Word Of The Day hiraeth (hɨraɪ̯θ), noun | A Welsh, untranslatable feeling, hiraeth is loosely described as a homesickness for a home you cannot return to anymore or a place, which never even existed. Connotations of sadness, yearning, profound nostalgia, and wistfulness are imbued into the state of hiraeth. Overall this beautiful, but painful longing is an expression of an empty desire and grief over a past life or place. It is the ultimate signifier of a bond, which has ceased to exist. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.” |

ali I think we can all understand this.... A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

i write stories to keep myself entertained in my bored, loneliness. i just let it flow, i do not try to control the story much. i now have a word which, so beautifully explains the feelings which i have for the places where three of these stories happen. The stories, characters and places haunt me, i yearn for them and even, sometimes dream about them! SO cool! Thank you.
