In The Beginning In the beginning, you let me, A collar. The leash. The ropes tight around your wrists. The legs pulled wide and spread by a steel bar. The gag, soft, and unforgiving. In the beginning, you let me. An indulgence perhaps, or a curiosity. That is what you told yourself, but I knew, the moment that collar surrounded your neck and locked with a quiet click, and your breath quickened, that there was more to this than permission. In the beginning, you let me, but oh how soon it became desire, hunger, need. A compulsion. Obsession. You became what you had always been, a slave to love lost in trust and surrender. As you get older you start to do things in reverse. You start cutting people out of your life. Your Christmas list become practically nonexistent. You take fewer pictures because some memories are best kept in your heart not in your hard drive and instead of looking for more love, you dig deeper into the love you have.
