Sounds like the author must have seen Neil Jordan's "The Company of Wolves," an excellent, if underappreciated, re-telling of the story if Little Red Riding Hood. This line may have even been written for you: "...from now on, she runs with the wolves."  "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

Glad to know someone else saw, and understood, that movie. I distinctly recall sitting in a small theater in a multiplex in a relatively small town and realizing that I was the only one in the (sparse) audience who knew what they were watching.

"...from now on, she runs with the wolves." Given the metaphoric belief that the wolves represent men chasing red riding hood to take her virginity. And that the girl is 12 years old and terrified of "wolfs" it is doubtful since this girl doesn't fear wolfs . . She just rolls her eyes.
