Bukowski Insight He is one of my favorite poets. I thought I'd share some of my favorite quotes with you All. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Find what you love and let it kill you." ― Charles Bukowski "Some people never go crazy, what horrible lives they must lead." ― Charles Bukowski "We are here to laugh at the odds, and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." ― Charles Bukowski “What is your advice to young writers?” “Drink, fuck and smoke plenty of cigarettes.” ― Charles Bukowski, Hot Water Music “Regret is mostly caused by not having done anything.” ― Charles Bukowski, You Get So Alone at Times That it Just Makes Sense “My heart is a thousand years old. I am not like other people.” ― Charles Bukowski “I will remember your small room, the feel of you, the light in the window, your records, your books, our morning coffee, our noons, our nights, our bodies spilled together, sleeping, the tiny flowing currents, immediate and forever. Your leg, my leg, your arm, my arm, your smile, and the warmth of you who made me laugh again.” ― Charles Bukowski “The gods play no favorites.” ― Charles Bukowski, You Get So Alone at Times That it Just Makes Sense “Are there good governments and bad governments? No, there are only bad governments and worse governments.” ― Charles Bukowski, The Most Beautiful Woman in Town & Other Stories “All that shit they were fed about democracy and opportunity was just to keep them from burning down the palace.” ― Charles Bukowski “And love is a word used too much and much too soon.” ― Charles Bukowski, The Night Torn Mad With Footsteps " What matters most is how well you walk through the fire" ― Charles Bukowski "I don't hate people; I just like it better when they're not around." ― Charles Bukowski "She had wild eyes, slightly insane. She also carried an overload of compassion that was real enough and which obviously cost her something" — Charles Bukowski, Women "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.” |

Nice work "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

I used to read voraciously. Now I hardly read a book or two a year. Part of that was when I still had cataracts and it was difficult to read books. Now, i am just out of the habit I guess. Just yesterday I was cleaning out a cabinet in the upper unit, which I lived in during my High school and University days. That cabinet was full of paperback books. Books that I might not have ever read, other than the fact I got them free from the Magazine & Paperback book distributor I worked at for a year. That distributor also handled those books and magazines you would fine under the counter at place across the proverbial tracks. Thus I became aware of my proclivbities towards bondage and "alternative" lifestyles. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

A few zingers in there, but he hit nails on the heads. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

Bukowski, what a fascinating mind, in such a tortured soul. Reading of his childhood pains me, reading of his adulthood pains me. But at the same time I admire and envy his freedom, his insights, his attitude, his life and societal observations, his clarity. Not all of them mind you, but who wouldn’t want to strip it all off and be Bukowski for 24 hours? 24 hours of that kind of freedom could kill a man, but leave a lifetime’s worth of memories. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”
