Shit happens! Drone wars & Velma puts on her glasses.  I woke up in the morning comfortable after finding a workers locker with a uniform in it. I wished it had a button that I could switch on that would supply me with the technical information about this place. I gained a certain height to at least make some sort of appraisal of the weapon. It had a curious feature at the end of the barrel. It had the look of a silencer at the end and was maybe thirty plus feet in diameter. It was I guessed to purify and intensify the beam, though I knew a lot more was possible after getting a lecture from Velma once about the prospect uses of creating a man made Higgs particle chamber. I made the joke that Male Alpha particles may be more her thing. She gave me a droll look for my troubles. She had little use for small talk. Anyway the Higgs chamber would intensify the beam to the size of a mini black hole and also make it invisible, but its destructive force made it able to handle any threat. It would slice things to bits with a cut no wider than the thickness of a hair. It was Nikola Tesla who first fancied the idea of knocking out enemy planes by an electric force but his fanciful idea fell short. Imagine the way a plane could handle a lightening strike and you see the limitations of electricity. A strange thing about white light was that it behaved like a wave and a particle and this is what gives it the strength to enable it to shift electrons on your solar panel to push it through the diodes. Then it was roughly a similar process that the man made Higgs field used to convert energy into matter.(Actually as the Doc explained to me later it was a way to evolve photons). Anyway it gave the weapon a real slicing ability , like millions of times more concentrated than what a laser could do which made the beam invisible. The Doc once told me that it would be the perfect weapon against the threat of drones who may in fact some believed was the threat mentioned in the revelation in the Bible. But I think fanciful at the best. Curious thing about the Bible is the one I was given contained a warning for anyone adding to or removing stuff, but in a fine line below the pages it mentioned the movement of 600,000,000 Chinese. Now that was forty years ago from your time. ( note: I'm not a religious minded person, just keeping it at the periphory of my mind). There was also a reference to the power of sound. (Trumpet blasts). But maybe I could find some evidence of what the threat was if I took a look around. I thought I should try to get my facts straight as it was not certain that I would ever return here again. I climbed the structure as high as I could and could see right to the coast. There was a city like object further down the coast and I thought I should investigate it but first I would make my way back to the ship to see if Doc had got back.       |
