Points Don't Matter, That's Right the Points are Just Like When I Say 'I love you' When I'm Drunk :) I was writing a reply to a magazine post by "bicocksman". "Anyone else having issues with alt taking points for nothing?" But it was getting a bit long. So decided post it on own blog. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To answer the question in the post title: No. But then I decided to for a gold membership. $0.55 day is fine by . So don't need points to use , or view profiles, etc. The comment by 0mphtongue is correct, there is point degradation. But I thought it was for the "top fan" program. If you don't log in often enough, the top fan points are removed. Went looking for the info in the help, didn't find it. So I am just going by memory. He also mentioned the "*note about numbers" link . The 4 hour thing is just how they estimate the # of people online. And to quote them; "The calculations made are approximations and should not be relied upon in making membership or payment decisions." It is 6 hours. If someone leaves their profile on, just walks away, does nothing. They will be automatically logged off after 6 hours. If you want to check to see how long someone has been inactive do a search for "members online" the farther away from the first page of results the longer they have been inactive. That might help you to decide to contact them or not. Something similar happens with IM. If someone logs off of IM, ALT will still show them on IM for a half hour. Yes that is right, a half hour lag between logging off. And when their profile icon changes. Sigh.... For those who need to spend points on . Please keep that in mind. And as an added bonus..... If they login using a mobile phone or tablet.... They might be shown as on when they are not.... Been caught more than a few times on that one. In case anyone is wondering.... I found out just two or three weeks ago.... After being on ALT since 2010... And posting almost 400 blogposts..... That ALT doesn't show your blogposts in the "blogs" section.... Until someone comments..... Which is WEIRD cause no one would ever comment.... If they never see your post.... So I was... FIRST!
