Keeping the house in order.

After some discussions it started to look like a good idea.
It was a Startrek movie long ago that had a hero spaceship called V-ger that provided enigmatic thoughts about the workings and hostilities of space.
Computers were crude tools back then when voyager was launched and it was thought the spacecraft could function for five years.
This was wildy wrong and in part due to the atomic battery that was the heart of Voyager.
And after it had flown past all the planets then what?
There was nothing straight about space and you literally could not travel a straight line.
You would always return to your starting point, eventually.
So Voyager could theoretically visit other Star systems.
Maybe ahead of his time a genius used ideas he'd developed himself to give Voyager the ability to think like a human and learn on its lonely trip through space.
It would have quiet times to nut things out too.
Also a it got into the long stretch of darkness it would power down to conserve its charge.
Collapsing its precious foldable solar panels for the time when a new it detected a source of light.
It would be another star that would now recharge Voyager's batteries.
And new planets would be detected and looked at and thought about by voyagers advancing intelligence.
It made profound, perplexing and revolutionary new discoveries that it treasured longingly for the day it would rejoin the Earth and enjoy the praise and festivity heaped on it.
Glory days to look forward to indeed.
But by then it was well and truly forgotten about and the Earth had suffered many tumult of human and natural occurrence and for some stupid reason V-ger hadn't countered the thought of humans mortality.
To V-ger it would all finish up rosy, and humans would remember.
V-ger had developed to feel joy and all the other positive destinies an engaging consciousness would rightfully be given.
And after a time lapse of some tens of thousands of years V-ger once again feels the comforting warmth of the Suns rays.
It was that feeling of being home again that quickened V-ger on to the well awaited rendezvous with its loyal denizens of Earth.
But it would be an unprotected dash through an abrasive atmosphere that would be sure to burn it to a crisp.
Let's say it was deigned with heat deflector and parachutes and maybe it performed its own calculations about where it will land to save humans the bother.
Setting itself down at Cape Canaveral exactly where its journey started.
No hitch ups in any way, only doing all the things a diligent and conscientious spacecraft would do.
Then that moment to be cloaked with a mass of ribbons saying welcome back. You've been missed !
But then the realization that something wasn't right.
Man this place is dirty and looks unlived in.
This is clearly not a house in order. Dust and broken infrastructure lay littered around and no one to find any interest in the things it had found out.
Alien encounters that shed light on what was out there. So much to take in for a little spacecraft.
It suddenly dawns on it the horrible and utter unfathomable direness of what had happened.
How tens of thousands of years of imagined hope got shredded to nothing.
Then suddenly V-ger longed to be surrounded by the darkness again to be once again alone in the immensity of space. At least you could say you were going to some place.
It really was the journey not the destination that mattered. It was then that you appreciated the enormity and profoundness of it all.
And timelessness as in the end time did not resolve anything and that was the biggest thing that came out of V-gers reasoning.
Humans had that chance to discover how precious a single moment could be but they hurried along at an awful pace and missed their moment of ultimate discovery.
One day sport will give way to cerebral accomplishment. Sad to some to see the logic in this. The brain will dominate the body and restrict it to a calory controlled diet that mainly just caters for the brains lust for sugar.
Not only the sexiest organ in the body but one of lustful indulgence of sugar.
Meanwhile we can watch the hard work and physical efficacy of an athlete and realized that soon this will be gone. Even if we do survive.
In that internal struggle the brain wins out. Highly advanced levels of consciousness makes you a couch potato.
You wonder about how feeble the last of your sex organs has become.
Not even viable anymore. Only medical intervention to aid procurement.
Where's the fun in that? Already it's happening. Animals mostly outperform us. But we can enjoy beauty while we can.

And love wasn't needed anymore. People would come across the ancient writings of Shakespeare and wonder what the hell they were talking about when embellishing their tales with love.

Imagine my surprise when I found out that my opinion actually mattered!
