In desert life today there's moles and truffles.
Also spotting a crack in the ground can mean there's an edible sweet potato just sitting there waiting to be dug up. Collecting seeds to make a damper was hard work and it tasted like shit.
There are bush turkeys and cats.
There were desert tribes living without knowledge of white people right up to the seventies.
Stone age man continuing with their business.
Rabbits found them first and they welcomed them as a tasty meal. Then cats and they were tasty too.
You could rub your boomerang on a piece of softwood to start a fire.
Later on when they got cars and rifles survival was easier and more interesting.
If you get far enough away you can feel something. If you don't have those<b> skills </font></b>of being able to find water in the desert then take plenty of water.
To this day about 40 per year die out there of thirst.
With satellite phones and other modern things, maybe eperbs help could be found.
In one episode Malcolm put plastic over tree branches to collect water. It doesn't hurt the tree he said.
The aborigines would find dingo pups and train them to hunt. Dingos arrived here 5000 years ago.

 Cans of golden syrup were taken out on bush trips. You'd smother your damper with it.

 primitive life isn't too bad, until one gets older, then it's alot harder to live off the land.

Was that the "A dingo got my baby" one dream? My neighbor read the book and was appalled by the the injustice in it. Finding the kids clothing proved her story was true. A dingo did take her baby.
