Holy sulphur balls, and prophetic wisdom Batman!

The Lord 'melted' Sodom and Gomorrah in a single day !
What crimes were permeated there?
So now as we found the atmosphere was good we disembarked from the craft like emerging onto a foreign planet.
We'd landed between a forest and a hard place and I could the sounds of water in the distance.
No signs of human life just yet and the doc suggested we take a look at the smooth cliffs that rose majestically from the mountain.
It would offer a view of the surroundings from there and I wondered just how far through time we'd come.
The doc wasn't sure because the time fractures were unpredictable.
If this was a place without human then what had brought that on.
The war to end all wars perhaps, and now the humans were gone, and God made a paradise that no human could enjoy.
Except us of course.
We'd cheated the system and bypassed the promised doom.
But was all what it seemed?
I'd once watched a film called Planet of the apes and I'd read Lord of the flies so my mind was ready to accept any new reality. Or maybe the post apocalyptic Omega man pointed to the best way to deal with the future.
Anything was possible and I remembered too how an ancient site had melted rocks caused by some unknown force , maybe even an alien one.
Maybe being destroyed by aliens was up there with floods and cosmic impacts.
So we walked up the hillside and a panoramic view opened up and in the distance the sea spread its open blue embrace.
When we reached the rock we noted that the surface had a crystalline appearance and you could feel that roughness of quartzite like the grittiness of sandpaper.
It was amazing how nature could hide the scars left by a destructive race, but some still remained to tell that tale.
The doc ran his meter across the stone and the faintest reading could be seen that a radiation event had happened here long ago and if a half life event had taken place then that would perhaps put us a million or two years into the future.
I was left reeling by the docs hypothesis of from studying the stone.
An event had happened here of truly mind boggling proportions.
A boiling ocean from the blast and maybe mile high waves to sink ship in ports across the globe.
Now nothing but an uninhabited paradise remained as humans would not be trusted again !
I decided to watch the night skies for any signs of alien craft.
Maybe the Earth was being now run by aliens who treated the whole thing like a National park, with a look but don't touch rule, and they'd only alight onto the surface for a brief picnic, not disturbing anything.
But the following day put at rest all my fanciful imaginings, her name was Zoosk, and she was surprised to meet us.
