Got shown the "hatch"! The girl explained to us more about this place we'd landed. And that they'd been reduced to the most basic hunter gatherer way to survive. So they went gathering after they'd showed us a hatch in the forest where some apocalyptic survivors had emerged from. We were interested to learn about what had happened so we took a look inside it and found some information and pictures about how life once was. The earliest bunkers were mostly tight claustrophobic affairs, and bigger ones tried to combat that with swimming pools and scenery painted on the walls. The best had massive curved screens that would take you on a journey to anywhere really. You could have the depth of space or ocean at your will. A super strong transparent polymer was developed and that made under sea bunkers to be possible and many chose them as they had a lot of advantages. Sea water could be put through a machine and made fresh for drinking and the oxygen could be removed for breathing. They were delightful too as you could dream away in a kelp forest with the sparkling surface above to watch as you slipped into a pleasant subconcious state. So much cheaper than the underground ones and delightful to be in. Water was once again a protector of life the way it had been in the dinosaur extinction event. Imagine my surprise when I found out that my opinion actually mattered! |
