Honest question...what happened to the hype about the explosion of covid 19 from Sturgis Im being real...white people partying at the lake of the ozarks 4th of july weekend made the front page of the ny times... Were made out be the devil..the sure cause of the next spread of corona. Hell ( being real).. a company actually tracked these people see where they went the next day via the gps in their phone. It was creepy AF and no doubt illegal... But hey its for public safety. So what happened that next big wave..that biker rally at sturgis? Wasnt that gonna be the next huge surge of covid 19 patients?? And yeah i've only heard one news story tieing in a man's death via corona to the rally.. Am i wrong? Was this a non story? Is it hype? Did the media just move on??? Did trump shit out a twitter and the media drop this Sturgis thing? Being super serious and non political here |

I have seen a couple articles on some areas with upticks supposedly linked to Sturgis, but not heavy media involvement.   Ars longa, vita brevis - Art is long, life is short

I think if there was any possible uptick related to the Sturgis rally it would be on the front page of EVERY MSM outlet... and would be the top of EVERY news feed across the country. It may still be a bit early to say there wont be some negative impact because its been what 3 week? Maybe its been 4 so yes the cases would or should be showing up... I have not heard anything.. Other than the SD state fair is going on now through Monday so... apparently SD does not have a huge problem with covid despite never locking or shutting down and hosting the sturgis rally with 400k plus attendees. Now they are having their state fair while most states cancelled them... I am not saying covid is not an issue but I don't think it is something to let wreck havok on the worlds economies. I like Kirk Cousins answer when asked if he was worried about contracting Covid... He said " if I die I die." and that is a very good summary of my view on the topic really. I am not going to let fear of a virus and dying keep me from living... if I did I may as well be in the grave if I am not going to live anyway.

What happened to the virus hype at Sturgis? The same thing that happened to the hype about the Milwaukee-8 and the Harley LiveWire. Nobody cares.

I have heard of a few states with new cases because of Sturgis. I think it's so much other stuff going on in the news that it's just not being talked about that much.The article I read said that the cases in SD had doubled and there was a uptick in new cases in neighboring states like ND,Iowa.Minnesota and Nebraska.Who really knows anymore.

400 cases in 12 states. It would have been worse if it weren't mostly an outdoor event.

I was there at Sturgis for 8 days. Got tested when I got back, a Negative result.

My point is the media hyped and shamed the fuck out of these bikers.. So where is the follow through? Has the media become a bunch of karens? Lets be honest..this is a non story because the hype machine switched over to schools and the teachers fighting trumps opening of schools. Funny kids/ teachers cant be in an actual building...yet they certainly can be ass to ass in say walmart. It's dangerous to force teachers to be in schools..yet we're cool with keeping walmart open and putting their workers at risk
