Avoiding a scam..clever AF

So this guy ( let's call him Lenny) calls and claims he is the purchasing agent from company x.

He wants a quote a high dollar item.

The guy claims he already has a p.o. number for us.

???

But that isn't how p.o. numbers work... We haven't even sent the quote..Lenny wants it sent a g account.

So then this huge dude shows an hour later at the shop saying he is the courier. He's here pick the high dollar item.

We called company x and they said Lenny doesn't even work for them/ never heard of the guy.

Kenny didn't scam us but scammed our competition for 3 grand.

Funny how easily people let merch literally walk out the door

No a normal call...we get asked to quote items all the time.
But usually the purchasing agent doesnt have a p.o. ready to rock. He only gets quotes and then is given a p.o. number

Besides that point we wouldnt have been suspicious .

I wrote about it to warn others...boy it seems like i pissed in your cheerios...why the hate?
