Then literally make it

what kind of engineer? Some structural things can be drawn on paper but cant be built. A drawing doesnt have and structural stress since no actual materials are used. That's not my area anyway. If its electrical and there's enough money almost anything can be built, if you can dream it. Some times the technology isn't available or specialized materials are required for a particular application and those materials don't exist because there are no processes for making the materials. A perfect example would be taking an iPhone back to 1980. They could take it apart but they could never duplicate it because the level of technology required wasnt available. At one time when you had a problem. You would develop a process or a mechanical or electrical device to resolve a problem. Now it's reversed. There are solutions looking for problems. There are single board computers with a system on a chip thats not made for any particular application. The jetson Nano is a learning computer that was made to solve no particular problem. The raspberry pi is another single board computer built along the same lines, and there are a ton of microcontrollers out there looking for a use, and they are in everything from microwaves to washing machines. A washing machine has at least 2 computers. One is the human interface and the other controls the operation. None of that's really necessary. There are exactions though. I have a no name brand freezer that needed a thermostat that couldn't be found, Instead of junking it. I'm using a microcontroller and a temperature sensor and an led display to monitor the freezer and turn it on when the temperature goes to 4 degrees and turn off bellow zero degrees. I have all kinds of parts. I just needed to do some soldering and then write a program on my computer and then upload the software to the freezer.

Engineers....everything works on paper, then it comes to those of us who have to make it work in real life. Engineers, only on paper.
