What's the point of impeachment? See below |

I was curious as what is the point of impeachment...i mean its not a trial..it doesnt even have to be a criminal act...it seems more like a popularity contest like american idol.. It's usually voted down party lines. I get it's to remove a standing president... But then dont you get the same horse with the vp or even the head of the house? I wondered what is the point of impeaching a president once they leave office... Oh right s/he may lose the pension and not be allowed to run for office??? Most ex pres are rolling in dough..they dont need $$$..look at the clintons or obamas...crank out a book or go on " speaking tours" and your suddenly a millionaire. Huh? Odd provision dont ya think.. i mean other politicans get recalled all the time...like gaven newson of cali is about to be recalled.. Yet he can run for office... And yet i still dont understand how you can impeach someone when they no longer hold the office.. Who cares? Trump probably would be the only person to try for another office after his presidency.. Normally presidents just sorta disappear and smoke weed like bush. So what's the point of impeachment..esp after the fact?

And yes lets look at how petty or ineffective impeachment really is.. Tried to impeach bill clinton over a blow job?...fuck who can blame him. No serious ..he " lied" in a senate hearing if i remember correctly...the who was is " is".. And lets impeach him on that??? Meanwhile another president can commit a criminal action like obama ( too fast too furious) and never go up for impeachment claiming pres priveledge..

It's petty and is being done because he pissed off a lot people who want to kick him to keep him down. The way Trump thinks, this is a photo op for him and his people and it will just bolster his position for 2024. That's when he will return with his party having destroyed the republican party. I don't know and don't care any more, I just watch for the comedy relief the Great America gives me.

Because it makes it look like politicians are doing something when in actuality they aren't. Perception always trumps reality (no pun intended). It takes real effort to actually fix a problem and offer up solutions. It costs you nothing to point out a problem or to offer up a fix to something that has already been done or will take care of itself but it gets you the same cred as actually fixing the problem. They wanted Trump out of office. Guess what? The voters already took care of that, so no solution needed but if you pretend to offer one, hey, look the politicians did something!
