Well I heard like 72% effective...Less on some of the new variants...( like low 40% I think) But remember, the real defense is to stop the passing of one person to another.....Every dead end the virus hits is a victory. That's how we beat it. 72% will work just fine for what we need it to do. Herd immunity. And the new vaccine doesn't need refrigeration and only requires one dose. You are protected just like 23 days later.....This is a really big deal.
We need to get as many shots in as many arms as fast as we can. The reasons we are seeing these variants is because we are passing covid like hot potatoes. Stop the spread, stop the mutations...And wear the dam mask....

The 66% efficacy is for all variants. It is higher for the one in the USA. It is also for one shot. In all honesty, 66% is not bad for a vaccine. Look at it this way:

JnJ 66% efficacy against all variants

Moderna and Pfizer is 50% efficacy for one injection, 95% for two.

Pfizer says their 2 injections have a 50% efficacy for the South Africa variant. So based on that, JnJ is actually a better vaccine for the new variants than Pfizer. Moderna is still testing for their efficacy against the other variants.
