First off i think it's great that black americans and their history get a month.

But as much as blacks contributed to this nation i have to ask..

And you should too..

Don't latinos/ latinas/ latin x,arabs deserve a month?

How about the slave labor from china that literally build the railroads in the west or the irish in the east?

How about the struggles of the lgbtq?

I'm literally not downplaying the hardships, slavery of African Americans.

But can this country also recognise months for native americans, latinos, the irish...and hello asians that are brushed aside with no thoughts to us asian citizens put into camps during ww2.

Why the push to..literally support ( yes ive seen this on billboards in kc..." protect" black businesses..

Yet no push bro to supports gays, arabs, chinese, latinos etc..arent these businesses hurting too? Arent these hard working mom and pop shops that deserve our protection?

Why are we " whiteswashing" all minorities as...well black..

We hold up a black month.,yet no latino, no woman,no arab,no asian,no jamacian,no lgbtq?,no native american history Month..

Is their suffering or history not important? Or is black history month just a cover for all minorities?

And yes this isnt me being racist..it's me be real..

You consider yourself a biden supporter,a liberal.....then where is the push to honor these other cultures and apologises for what you as white people have done to them.

Think about it

And no this isnt me being a dick and making you think..

Why is there no months honoring latino culture, asian culture..where is the arab history month..

Where is the native american month

Couldnt joe easily sign these into law???

And fyi..yes there was and still is racism towards blacks..

But really study racism to asians..fuck bruce lee couldnt even star in the green hornet..he was the " man servant" for 1970 ist tv.

Let's study racism towards arabs, the lgbiq,

Fuck lets study the legal studies the transgender still fight.

I luv and appreciate black folks.....but when is america gonna honor other cultures.

And honestly..this is why you..h ate me.. i make you move beyound your safe space and ask why

I agree with you. What is more stupid here in Canada is that we have too. Really, I feel that they should put their big boy panties on and get getting involved in society instead of whining and always asking for help. NO I am not prejudice. But I do say the best person for the job. Not only that all this fighting I hear going on now was done back in the seventies. Yes a lot has changed for the good in my opinion. Blacks never had it as bad here as in the states, ever. Yes we had slaves, but I don't hear the stories about here as I hear about the states. I could be wrong, I doubt it. I don't think that when a culture complains about inequality, gets it ( in my opinion ), and then proceeds to build or get segregated schools like they did in Toronto, and also get federal and provincial help for their businesses, unfairly, have a right to bitch. Over 30 years ago I was unemployed. One government agency I went to told me that no one will hire me, I was a white male, had to be a cripple or a female or black. So after all that I still try not to be prejudiced, but do not expect me to shop at your store or financially help your school. I already do with my tax dollar. And you get a whole month to celebrate.

One of the few times I can agree with you without hesitation.

We should be celebrating people; on an equal footing.
Not one month at a time for specific races; but always and without hesitation treating each other with humanity.

However, I dont hear that in your argument.
You seem to be focusing on why we treat Group X special for one month, rather than using this as an opportunity to raise up together. Ho hum, maybe I am just reading what you want me to see; not what you believe.

I am sorry for what I said. I was not clear in that I think we should put special that person or that person. I am all for everyone in this together regardless of sex, age, religion, colour etc. That is how I truly feel but as a white man, a WASP, I get trampled constantly and as far as I am concerned I treat everyone the same.

You didn't push the boundaries of my mind so much as push me onto a search engine for 30 seconds because I was aware of all of these save one so I had to confirm.

Biden can't really declare certain months as X Hertiage Month because other presidents have already made those proclamations over the last 4 decades or so (5 for BHM). I don't believe is a strictly social liberal issue either since about half the proclamations I cut and paste came from Republican presidents.

National Arab American Heritage Month (NAAHM) takes place in April. It celebrates the Arab American heritage and culture and pays tribute to the contributions of Arab Americans.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (as of 2009, officially changed from Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month)[1] is a period for the duration of month of May for recognizing the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

On August 3, 1990, President of the United States George H. W. Bush declared the month of November as National American Indian Heritage Month, thereafter commonly referred to as Native American Heritage Month.

LGBT History Month 2021 in United States will begin on
Friday, October 1
and ends on
Sunday, October 31

The Civil Liberties Act of 1988 (Pub.L. 100–383, title I, August 10, 1988, 102 Stat. 904, 50a U.S.C. § 1989b et seq.) is a United States federal law that granted reparations to Japanese Americans who had been interned by the United States government during World War II. The act was sponsored by California's Democratic Congressman Norman Mineta, an internee as a child, and Wyoming's Republican Senator Alan K. Simpson, who had met Mineta while visiting an internment camp.

Hispanic Heritage Month takes place September 15 to October 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community.

The U.S. Congress proclaimed March as Irish-American Heritage Month in 1991, and the president issues a proclamation commemorating the occasion each year.

Every year March is designated Women's History Month by Presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women's contributions in American history. ... The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women's History Week celebrations the following year.

=======================================================

I can't say too much particularly about the billboards you mention since I haven't seen them. Maybe you can look into who paid for them. My guess would be a private enterprise. Some black celebrities/entertainers like Alecia Keys and Beyonce have been donating millions to assist black owned small business during the pandemic.

So, overall...no, we don't lump all people darker than my pale self into the black column on the data sheet.

As an Irishman, I can say we can get rid of Irish History Month. We already had St Patty's day and we can barely be contained in those 24 hours. Anything more and civilization dies.
