They claim like the flu vax that its not a live virus... I honestly wonder then how someone could still be contagious...from simply being vaccinated. For example disney doesnt care if you've been vaccinated..doesnt care if you have proof...even weeks afterward Your still requirred to wear a mask.. And i wonder why.. and yes im very pro mask. But this seems retarded on multiple levels. Does disney believe kids are contagious after getting their requirred shots for school. And shouldn't the vax be a means to getting back to normal.. If not then what is the point...

Being vaccinated doesn't stop you from getting it. The vaccine causes your body to produce the antibodies required to beat the virus quickly and safely. You can still carry and spread the virus while you have it. Your jab will only protect you, not others around you. All vaccines work this way.

Like tastetester61 said, the vaccine manufacturers are being clear that it reduces the impact of the virus on the person who is vaccinated. This is different to how many other vaccines work and is one of the reasons these are considered to be groundbreaking. Unfortunately people can still catch, shed and distribute the virus even after full immune response is conferred, they just wont be as unwell. Short answer, this vaccine protects our health services by reducing the number of desperately ill individuals who need ICU support. It may be helpful to think of it as reducing the severity of the infection as herd immunity evolves. Happy to be corrected by any virologists here, mine is very much a lay persons understanding.

Plan on getting a booster for this strain next year, and oh yeah, another vaccine for the follow on strain(s). Welcome to the insanity.
