So yeah I got a one line text from a number I didn't recognize...

It just said...leo.

Now im not sure if this was a past Domme texting me or maybe a dude I was once interested in and gave out my number.

Or fuck could be a scammer..

So i just replied. ..???

Then he/She texted isnt this leo?...and then used my real last initial..it's Sheryl..

Now I knew a Sheryl when I first moved to kc like 20 yrs ago...but haven't talked to her/ her husband in like..
12 to 15 yrs..
No emails,text,Christmas cards...nothing.

Her family is super religious( her dad, brothers all have homes on the same track of land) and really couldn't grasp the concept of a married woman having a single guy as a friend..
Maybe if I was stereotypically gayer..things would have been better??
Honestly I wasn't after a hookup..I was looking for a faghag/ a galpal...someone to just shop with,see a movie

They have made no attempt to contact me in 15 yrs even though we live like 40 minute drive apart..

Even odder is I doubt Sheryl would have my current phone number..now I'm using a number i previously had..
But I'm 99 percent sure i didn't have it when I knew her...sooooo how did she get it?

And even if there was some lookup site or maybe had a cop friend..my phone is a company one and not even in my name..

Even odder is this person asked if I was leo...b for example instead of say leo bowski( not my real last name)..
Almost like a scammer would use..gleamed maybe off of an email heading???

I mean if I miss texted you and got someonelse..
Would I really type..is this Carol d instead of using her full name of Carol danvers..

So what would you do now...

So far I played dumb and ignored the text...acting like they got the wrong number..

I think it would be different if this person used her full name and stated a purpose in a text..esp to someone she hasn't seen in 13-15 years

I mean would you really text someone out of the blue..someone you haven't spoken to in 15 yrs...

With just their name and a smiley face?

If i pulled this crap on a woman atleast I would offer up an apology and an explanation for my behavior..

Or atleast be direct and get to the point...I haven't seen you in 15 yrs..but...

And fyi i really have no interest in being friends with these people. I'm spiritual but not really religious like them.

I know it seems unusual these days but had you not thought to, you know, call them and just ask? That would've been my response to the first msg.
As Kitshadow says, why turn it into a mystery. There isn't one, it's Sheryl. Ask her why and how she contacted you. You may be wrong about her not having this number, very often the simplest solution to a problem is indeed the answer though. If you don't want talk to Sheryl, don't.
You seem a little paranoid Leo, most people would just be curious (a simple txt caused to to go full conspiracy theorist dude: scammers, religious family members, why didn't she reach out in a way YOU might have, what are her motives etc). So my advice at this point would be to just block the number and forget it; no dastardly scammers can get you then! But if you think not knowing will eat at you, just bloody call them. She may simply be curious how you're doing, a simple act of kindness.
