 I used to think the character Peter was just a slacker..a good looking dude just coasting..a Chad even..

Until you work in that environment and realise...

Peter was right..
1..no one watches when you come in...if they were gonna fire you for being late..then they would have done it a long time ago.
2. His day comprises of maybe 2 hrs of actual work..
You do just enough not to get fired.
3. There literally is no incentive to work harder.

In my case..yes there is a punch in clock but people seem to work when they want??? Huh??? In and out..leaving at 4pm..??,

If you bust your ass and get back earily, they see you sitting around and think your lazy..then they think you should take on additional responsibilities like cleaning the toilets or emptying the trash etc.

And overtime..I never got it..now I realise how much of that extra money goes straight into taxes..
And really isn't worth killing myself.

So what's the point ..especially if the company treats you like crap..

Say like..buys you a company phone..but since your a lowly driver we have to literally restrict it worse than a 10 yr olds phone..to me it's a glorified scanner..it's a brick..I don't even take it out of the cab

I was promised a 200 dollar voucher for safety boots..a month plus in...still no boots..etc..so much for safety

I have no motivation to even come into work today..it's like they are lucky I even showered..I'll probably just rewear the same company t shirt I had on friday..I'm not nasty...
I just wasn't , motivated to wash their gear.

And yeah I get peter...the founder of the quietly quitting guild..

They literally took a 20 yr driver that was willing to give this new company a chance
..
And within a month??

I'm peter..

You end up with an employee that doesn't care about being prompt,doesn't care if he looks professional, drags his ass delivering,won't answer the company phone..they said I can't be on the phone while driving..90 percent of my work day is driving...and they promised to buy me a head set...
A month ago
..so yeah their calls don't get answered.

And A employee that doesn't bust his ass and eager for overtime pay..

Which means the company would rather pay you a lil more than hire another person..

And at 54 yrs of age..I'm done pulling 50 plus hrs..to see literally 600 dollars go directly to taxes in a two week pay period.

So from my pov....there is no motivation to really work..more or less work harder..
If I deliver more..I don't get more..

And like the movie..I probably got 7 bosses...with additional paperwork.

My leverage against this company??

I'm paid the standard going rate for a driver
...so fire someone with a great safety record and 20 yrs of experience..

For what...a 20 yr old....with no experience..and let him drive the companies 100,000-150,000 dollar truck....for about the same pay

And yes I know I should just get another job
