If you go to a gym...even planet pizza...

Chances are good that you jumped on tiktok or you tube for some tuitorals on how to do an exercise..

Well let me rephrase that..

You most likely watched multiple videos with clickbait titles like...
What's killing your gains...this is why your not getting bigger...this is why your not losing weight..

And yeah your not...

You think some video will ,magically correct your sitution...Will make your side delts grow...

Well afraid to tell you it probably won't help.

And it isn't because these YouTube's aren't professionals...hell Dr. Mike is an actual doctor..

Sure they can tell you to hold a dumbbell a certain way to engage the muscle..they can suggest a rep range or a certain exercise..they can tell you how to eat..

And if your like me...

It doesn't work..

Some may throw up their hands and scream they just have bad genetics or everyone on tiktok is taking steroids..

These instructors can give you all the advice in the world..

But those side d elts aren't growing because...

Their advice is generic and contradictory to their fellow youtubers.
...light dumbbellflies 5,10,15lbs x 15 reps does little for my growth
Seems stupid because you can't use alot of weight and are now forced to increase the reps.

Perhaps your a different sorta cat...and need an exercise that hits both the side and front.

My point is you can keep going back to the YouTube well yet not getting a drink...

You need to find that one or two exercises, rep ranges that work for you..

You can literally watch hundreds of youtubers pulling down on rope handles for their triceps..

And they will claim your still doing it wrong..

Or you can skate over to a tricep machine at planet fitness...and it mimmics a dip..

It got my triceps pumped..

So maybe the thing stalling your muscle gains or dropping weight...

Is you...watching advice that applies to the masses

Instead of having fun and see what works best for you..

You might surprise yourself...I can't dip..at 208lb..just too fat ..don't have that sorta shoulder strength..

But I can push down on that ,machine and do 190lbs.

My point is simple..

Turning your hand a certain way or adding a few reps most likely won't solve your problem..

And sure I get subtle changes can shift the focus on the exercise to the targeted muscle..

You can watch and imitate these people and still not see progress...

Cause...well first off most are on steroids..
Second..what worked for them,their clients..

Who most likely are on something...

Doesn't mean it will work for you..

You need to be you...and try out different things..

I will say that yeah...as a dude you kinda feel sus using a machine for like bicep curls when there is a whole rack of weights.

But the ,machines are designed to keep constant tension on the muscle and reduce the areas where you normally rest with free weights..

May seem sus...but it may be what you need

I have found that a big problem (perhaps the biggest?) with those seeking some kind of gains is that they are simply going through the motions of something they've seen or been shown without any real knowledge about the mechanics, musculature and focus. The same can be said for maintaining a diet that supports development and growth. I suppose the second biggest problem is impatience but that's universal in a lot of things. In the end, you need to take some time to study and learn about what you're trying to do and accept that you genetics does limit some of what you can achieve.

And fyi, machines can be quit useful but they isolate a particular motion without requiring that you stabilize it so they aren't the same. They can also be difficult to adjust correctly and lead to the use far too much weight because people tend to think that more is better For example, there is a vast difference between bench pressing with a machine that allows you to contort your body to apply force in one direction and bench pressing with a real bar that requires you to maintain a specific form and stabilize the bar is all directions.

Sure machines isolate without providing you a strong core?

But that's the point..to target just the bicep without engaging the other muscles
