The Rav4 literally is

Ivan Drogo

Looking down at me ( wasn't dolph lungren like 6'4)

Smiling

And saying..

I must break you..

Yesterday I sweated my balls off...got the alternator repair done..except I forgot to tighten the bolts..

No biggie.. just gotta undo this,this..that..and yes that to get access to the bolts..

And yeah one alternator bolt tightened...

The other one didnt??? It's the one buried deep and hard to see...

It felt hand tight

But spun when I put a ratchet on it???

Did I strip the sob???

NOPE!

Welcome to Toyota repair 101...where lining up the main long bolt doesn't mean the short bolt lined up..
It literally was under the cast..

Sooo yeah...I now had a superfearthe parts store sold me the wrong alternator

Now I have to undo everything I did yesterday to realign said bolts..

And it literally took 2 people and Jesus to get that short bolt to hit that hole..

And yes it finally went in

Insanity isn't doing the same thing and expecting different results..

It's working on a vehicle and it taking longer than a simple alternator repair should take...

Toyota engineers? Wtf...

I'm thinking this repair has broken me...

Or at least

I'm gonna need a lot time to lick my wounds and heal..

This is why dealerships get big bucks for doing repair work, it's a pain in the ass these days.

As SS69 said, dealers will charge a fortune to do anything now. Always worth doing yourself if you’ve the tools and know-how.

And some dealers are bodge merchants as well as fleecing experts. I’ve had one car ruined by a big name dealer, and they had no interest whatsoever when I pointed out there inadequacies.
