I noticed one of our fellow bloggers used the n word in his post to describe a political rival..

Let me be blunt...the term " nazi"

Is an ethnic slur. It's origins are not the Germans of ww2. Rather it refers to a common German male name in Bavaria...like homer

So it became equated with someone from the country,the sticks

It is akin to calling someone a country bumpkin..or hayseed or even redneck

It is meant to be a put down and was used by Hitler's political rivals at the time.

Hitler nor the Germans ever used this term...

So stop using it...as someone of German heritage I take the word as an insult..

And for those that lean left...

Yeah the Germans in power at the time of ww2..

The German workers socialist party..

And can we literally stop with the ww2 references for any politician we don't like...ww2 was over 80 plus years ago..

Let me restate this...the term Nazi was coined in 1920s by the political rivals of the German workers party..

The name comes from ignatz...a common country guy name in Bavaria..

So it's like calling someone a peasant basically..

The term " nazi" was only used by those outside the country when Hitler came to power.
Hitler never used it

So stop using the term...your only showing your ignorance and at the same time using an ethnic slur..

Peter the word has always been used as an insult. I'm asking members to referring from using it.

It was never used by the German workers party

That term was only used by outsiders,foreigners,journalist and those Germans years after the war..

Take it for what it is..

But it is still an ethnic slur
