Where is the payoff? And does the audience deserve better

I use to think a story must have a beginning,a middle and an end..

And I ponder...as I watch..and process

See your boy

Is

Different.

I can't sit and just enjoy a movie or tv show.

My mind shifts into overdrive and begins to mentally rewrite the script. My mind wants to recast or do scenes differently.

Like I finally got to watch that Paterson from twilight in " the batman" movie..

And I wasn't a fan

I won't bore you with a movie review or my changes..

I used to think stories needed a beginning, middle and end

But I evolved pass such petty issues

Now my major concern is the

Payoff...did the writer fullfill the promise made to the audience..

In the batman's case?

I'll argue no..

Now when I write a story I'm looking specifically for that moment, that connection, those emotions..it's that payoff..

Cause the audience deserves this defining moment..its their moment

And now?

I See that moment as the starting point for a story and work backwards ..

Like in avengers endgame where Tony stark proclaims..

I am ironman..

And ironically

It doesn't have to be this big heroic superhero moment

And you don't even have to like the character..

It can be as simple as Rick Sanchez( rick and morty) at a bar phoning the intergalactic police..

To come arrest him..

Rick is shown surrendering so his ,grandkids and yes..Jerry will be safe..

Rick is a self absorbed azz,he fucked over his family multiple times and have put their lives in danger...
And through all that alcohol and haze

In the end

He still cares.

..even if he doesn't care about himself..

Rick is shown locked up in this cage on a wall with thousands of other cages...very matrix like prison scene
That is his new life..

Surrounded by thousands
Yet still alone...

But without that moment

You've failed as a writer.

Sorry but I need to feel,I need to care,I need to be invested
And I need that moment..

Or else He's just another flavor of the week dressed as " batman"..

And fyi Robert Patterson was miscast in my opinion.

Hollywood clings to the stupid notion that Batman can just be any bloody wanker cause the " suit"..
The suit only goes to hide the man's/ actor's shortcomings.

It's " plot armor"...like it doesn't matter..a flabby Ben Affleck can play the role

Tom cruise could be batman...seeing how that Jack reacher thing didn't work out..

But Batman is a man..he isn't a suit...he's Zorro for Christ's sake..Bob Kane referrence there

It is risk versus reward and Batman does get injured..shot,stabbed, bane broke his back. His suit is magical nor bullet proof

It only goes to show there is a man behind the mask..

Not a machine..

Batman is 6'2 250lbs in the comics

Patterson is 6 ft and like 170?? Refused to work out for the part

In the batsuit he looked..puffy..

And I don't know if the suit lacked mobility or Patterson has never been in a fight in his life

But yeah..it showed

Your not batman..

And this is the payoff I'm talking about..

People want to see the actor in the suit..

He needs to be

Batman..

Cause the audience needs to believe

Your batman..

It's more than putting on a latex costume.

I think it's ironic now all actors think they need to do is have this deep scratchy voice..

And that makes them?

What? Inferior to the superior voice talents of actors for the batman cartoon??

Cause that is what my brain is thinking..

In what cannon did a deep gravely voice become the mainstay.. is it so you don't suspect Bruce Wayne is batman..sorta like Clark Kent wearing glasses??

It's insane that movies continue with this trait.

It's even worse coming out of Robert Patterson
