In the Northern part of the country it's "pop", here in the South it's "soda".

Lmao!... well America is big & very diverse scenery from coastal to Mtns to great plains & water bogs thru bigger Mtns thru desert to more Mtns to other coastal region!
there’s lots of different plants flowers & animals depending on the region also has frigid cold winters up north w a mild deep south west & southern Cali areas!
East coast differs from the West coast...we get diverse weather from torrential rain & flooding earth quakes volcanos hurricanes & tornados Blizzards & ice storms the daytime sky is different color in different parts as our the stars at night & a 3 hr time change difference from NY to Cali not including Hawaii & Alaska time zones!
it’ll take you 3 days to drive from coast to coast & 2 days to drive thru TX alone from its widest points!
but yeah there’s also culture & language shock where things are called by different names from other parts of country as well as food differences too & you don’t need a passport to travel to any other States!
America has it all except a cohesive govt of the people by the people for the people...way too much greed here!

In the UK, the accent indicates social class: nobility, upper class, middle class, commoners.

And, yes, the accent also changes with distance.
Cornish folks may be hard to understand at times.

Common misunderstanding these days though.
