Watch wearing

So got into a conversation the other day about watches and wearing them.

I got called weird as I wear my watch on my right wrist and I'm also right handed.

So I started looking at P'ppl to see and to be honest all wear watch on the opposite wrist to their Dominant hand.

So.......
left handed right wrist?
left handed left wrist?
Right hand left wrist
Right hand right wrist?
Depends on the day?

No watch for me. My skin reacts negatively any sort of material.

While I'm a dominant left-handed person, I would wear a wristwatch on my left wrist. However, because of the proliferation of electronic devices that can tell you the time, I don't wear a wristwatch anymore. I do, however, own a pocket watch that my wife gave me for a birthday present.

lil_miss_fruity replies on 9/20/2023 12:10 am:
ohhh wow I love pocket watches, I think they are cool!!

Yeah wrist watches are a dyeing out now which is sad

Unlike most on here, I HATE being tethered to a cell phone and wear a wrist watch, but currently am not because all four of the watches I own need new batteries...Ha, Ha, Ha! SO, i ask people that are around me if I need to know the time when I'm out and about, and I need to drop two of the watches off for new batteries, then take the other two in about six months later. I like wearing a watch, always have...

lil_miss_fruity replies on 9/20/2023 12:14 am:
That's the trouble with watches is the batteries and their life span. I love watches but for same reason I stop using them only to find the watch and think damn I miss wearing you lol

hope you get the batteries sorted out

Normally right-handed left-watch (so I voted that) but currently right-handed right-watch due to a broken left wrist in plaster! Keep looking at a chunk of masonry to tell the time. Doh!

lil_miss_fruity replies on 9/20/2023 12:16 am:
ohh no hope all is ok with your wrist and you have the plaster removed soon.

actually I gave up on watches. Cell phones made them obsolete in my opinion.

lil_miss_fruity replies on 9/20/2023 12:17 am:
That seems to be the popular answer.
Sad really but at end of day its the way things are and have moved forward.

Right handed, used to wear my watch on my left wrist.

I've got out of the habit of wearing a watch. Years as an engineer in the food
industry, not allowed to wear a watch at work, there were wall clocks everywhere
anyway.
Plus having a clock in the car & carrying a mobile phone when out, didn't seem
much need.

lil_miss_fruity replies on 9/20/2023 12:40 am:
that seems to be the answer of most ...the mobile/cell phone has taken the watches place.

The wearing of a wrist watch on the left goes back virtually since the beginning of the wrist watch, and for a reason. Given most people are right handed, they have better manual dexterity with that hand. Therefore, it was much easier, and more natural for them, to do up the watch band's belt buckle with their right hand. It also meant that the winder/adjuster had to be put on the right side of the watch so as to allow the right hand to manipulate them. Battery powered watches with metal or velcro bands have really made this convention redundant, however, most watch manufacturers have stuck with the placement of controls on the right.

lil_miss_fruity replies on 9/20/2023 12:24 am:
I never knew that, thank you I just find it easy to put it on right wrist and do fiddly bits with left hand fingers. Not sure why I do it this way

i think the practice of not wearing a wrist watch on the dominant arm started to decrease the chance of damaging the watch. If someone were righthanded, he would probably do more with his right hand thus risking scratching the face or the like should he wear the watch on the right wrist. Or so i've heard.

lil_miss_fruity replies on 9/20/2023 12:27 am:
That does seem to be the reasoning and I can understand it totally

lil_miss_fruity replies on 9/20/2023 12:33 am:
1, I'm NOT a slave

2, I only answer to One person and thankfully it isn't you

3, if you had read it correctly then it is not about control etc it is just a basic question. I did not state a Dominant or the Dom in my life was the reason behind the question.

Now please run along lil wannabe ... oh and if you have a problem with me or my attitude then please feel free to get in touch with SirWarEagle on here.

Seems to be a common topic.
Here is the result of M_Ezrah of Gor.

Left hand - Ambidextrous
None of my limbs is 'dominant' My mind is dominant!😊 (Who came up with this description 'dominant hand' if you're left or right handed? Was (s)he kinky do you think?
I wear wrist watches because I like them. The mobile phone is convenient for use as a phone, a camera or a timer/alarm clock. But for telling the time I look at my wrist watch.
Now you know what you can get ME for my Birthday 😁⌚

Forgot to add. No need for batteries in many of my watches. They are motion-powered. And one is light powered. I can't wear it in a dungeon! 😎
We A/all know how frustrating it can be when the batteries have gone flat.

I have no dominant hand. If I pick it up with my right hand then it goes on my left. If I pick it up with my left then It goes on my right.

Do some people still wear their watches with the watch face facing out from the back of their wrist?
