I have and use both, when I updated one I try to update the other. After having taking a few years break from both sites my usual chat buddies aren't very active. I do often look up on fet usernames of people on here since I can't see profiles, but like you said sometimes its old info. Any groups I try to find on fet or where a member of there hasn't been much action on so I guess to me it is what it is.  THE WORLD CAN BE AMAZING WHEN YOU'RE SLIGHTLY STRANGE

I have a profile in both places, though I don't go next door too often. I do not like their platform, but I do like that they have the local postings for events and such. I like the blogs over here. Ars longa, vita brevis - Art is long, life is short

I use both. I blog here more. But, some groups have more discussion on F.F certainly function better program wise and is easier to contact folks and stay in touch with friends.But I don't care for the kinky & popular section, Just does what this one does, basically promote sex. Nothing against sex, but obviously I came here first because of BDSM and the dialogs that used to occur in chat rooms. But thsoe have for teh most part fallen apart. Scammers bother me more here. I've met many more real people, both one on one and the munches using Fet. I've never met anyone using alt - its mostly entertainment and way to many fake/scam etc here.

i keep a profile on both locations, while i like the blogs here, (imho) people on FET tend to answer faster, and appear more willing to interact. But there is no IM type function there. I'm not so sure that my profile is viewed as many times as the "counter" says it is, i feel it is more of ALT (& it's BOTs) generating traffic. It also took them two years to sort out an email issue, even being a gold member. It said I had two unread messages, but no one could find them....

If you use Fetlife I believe the chances of meeting someone in your area that enjoys the same things as you is much greater then Alt. I have never met anyone here with much sincerity or wanting to actually meet in person. On Fet, I have met others at their monthly "munch's" and still have the friendships.

I have had a profile on Fet since it started: I log in there very occasionally, never update my profile, totally detest the format... but as everyone has mentioned it's good for keeping track of the local events I can't be bothered attending, and I have people whom I value that left here during the great exodus or any of the other purges who still check in there... we stay in touch, kinda sorta. It's ALT.... fakes, scammers, glitches, creaky operating system, weird rules... and it's home.

I use both. Each one has it's advantages and disadvantages. I like for the blogs, chat, and who looks at my profile. I like Fet because I can actually see someone's profile and message them without being a paying member.

To me the sites serve different functions, comparing them is like the old apples to oranges thing, they are just different. Which is better kind of depends on what you are looking for.  If one blogs and likes following and reading blogs alt is better format and function wise. Fet's "writing" section is disappointing but anyone can start a "group" then when you post all your group members get the notice, fet has recently added the ability to "follow" a person's activity with out having to be friends but it's still not the same. If one is looking for local events, groups, munches, furniture, toys fet is better and more active in most locations. (Chicago is a hot bed of major activity with large clubs, multiple munches and normally many annual events) The number and variety of groups is up there, of course, not all are active but many are. Fet, is good for self education, learning and finding like minded people, as people /friends. To talk with / to. Read discussions and grow, participate in discussions, too. Like pictures and give comments on pictures. You can, if you wish, on Fet find people on their fetish, if that is a asset? I am on both sites, Have some local 'friends'..... To find Munches... Alt...... ? whahahaha  the blogs. Defenitly the blogs.

1. I spotted a lot more people in my city on Fet 2. Fet is free, but standard members can't view videos 3. I spend a lot more time on Alt (blog, cam) and just check what's new on Fet, with little interaction (my fault, not theirs)

I think because Adult Friend Finder is also owned and operated by the Alt company there are more curiousity seekers coming over from there where on Fet everyone is there more for the lifestyle than to just "try out" some kinky sex.

Fet has a lot of changes over the year. They had to take out findoms or anything one asking for money is ban from the site. If you message a person on fet and the person replies back...will say that person is typing. Some feel groups are dead on Fet, try to do search again or even make your own group. I have 4 groups and made 3...with the covid 19, I can do munches or events. If you do kinky/popular on fet, the is a secondary tab at the top to filter only stuff or everything. Everything is default...pictures/video/writing .... Couples can be hard to find but seen them on the classified groups. Search for couple groups. I have better relationships on fet and they last longer. Lifetime membership on Fetlife is worth it, pay once and no more worries. Alt membership is more as a scam than worth it. If you do not click on fine print/hidden on order form for the best gold membership and fail to do one thing, then they will charge you full price. You can get free membership own if new people look at your profile enough times, more than once from the same person will not work. I been hit with many scammers, fakes, and human traffic person. The human traffic person, I reported and alt took 2 months to ban that page. Anything for messaging is pay pay pay nothing free expect blogs. #1 fans get free messaging not friends list. Standard membership block from looking at profiles or making friends or #1 fans. Men has to pay while most women get a free membership. Unless you get do the crap for free one. I have people view my page but on the view page that person is not listed. I meet a few people off alt but relationships never lasted. Alt people that I talked to (women) is more about talking then doing stuff in person. Fetlife people usually tell you no thanks or block you while Alt just leave you hanging until paid membership runs out then message you back or no reply back.

I've had both for so long it's uncomfortable admitting it. I hate fetlife's interface for all the reasons you listed. Even being free doesn't seem like a good enough tradeoff. I've only ever been frustrated on fet where as I've met and had ltr with members I've met here...I will admit that it's been more challenging finding genuine irl seekers who are local recently and I've been frustrated and wondering if there's an alternative... it really can't be fetlife for me. Fetlife and it's not even close. Fetife is a FREE site and has 1000 times the REAL profiles. I am a life supporter there and it only cost me 250ish for LIFE this costs me more than that in a year. I will NOT be renewing here when my gold membership expires. There are just too few REAL women and or people on this site to pay for being able to contact them. tron1062 finds me there.

Get being free is a huge plus. Unless you put a lot of money into Alt, you can't really do much here. So I have to give it to Fet.
