Rejoining The Cult To Be Avedorized  Rising t/o the sound of silence....not another person, or the sound of their breathing, always makes m/e roll over and just hug my pillow for a moment. The tug at my heart is my first feeling... But I don't have time for that today. Today I start my new position as Creative Director and Senior Stylist. Welcoming the pressure of having to perform and win over the other stylists. Because, truth be known, I can and do hair in my sleep. A walking hair encyclopedia mixed with a creative streak ten miles long. It's always been that way, My mother said my Barbies were bald after I got a hold of them, and that's how she knew I should be a hairdresser. Not sure that analogy would impress my , but I digress. I am joining an Aveda salon, and if you don't know anything about Aveda, I worked for them previously and jokingly call it being "Avedorized"Being on the outside of working there, you would think it is a cult. Their philosophy goes way beyond hair and beauty and is also a lifestyle. When I worked for Aveda before, it was for two gay guys in Charlotte in 1993. We did a team training in Hammond Louisiana in the sweltering heat of July. It was on a plantation and they would get us at am for yoga. The kicker? There was no caffeine or su/gar allowed! Yes, you read that right. Not allowed o/n the premises. They had their own vegan chef as well. So add no meat t/o that list. Now, I don't know if you can imagine, but put 10 hairdressers in a cabin with no coffee, n/o su/gar , or meat for a week... B/y the third evening, my boss asked if we were going t/o dinner at the plantation house and I looked at him with that look I get. "Carl, We are not going t/o dinner with you. You will be able t/o find us at the restaurant o/n main street because I need a beer, a steak, and a coffee before we bite your fucking head off." And I flashed my beauty queen smile at him. HAPPY for you! Being employed always provides a level of comfort and security to my life, and I suppose that's true of most, especially if it's something you're great at and enjoy. Hope they don't have the same 'constraints' on caffeine, sugar, and meat, wouldn't want to read a story about "A Creative Director and senior stylist was arrested today for biting off the head of the owner/manager of a popular salon..." Yes I know. I can thank COVID for destroying my happiness The sad part is, we really dont know and everyone loves doom and gloom for some reason. They could eradicate it by next summer and then what? Those airlines will lift it as soon as possible, I assure you. I just wish everyone could draw on my fighter instincts and positivism, but they dont

"Do you do men?".. I mean that in the most noble of manners, unless, of course, you ..... Uh oh.. now my nasty mind has wandered: "Does anyone have a manscaping cubicle in a salon?".. .It actually might be great entertainment for the customers as they are waiting.. Damn, I wish I could figure out how to trademark or patent that concept. Or, T-shirts: "Poetic Pussy Crafted my Scape", on the front .. and "Wanna See?" on the back..
