Equally - What is the difference between domineering and controlling? "Controlling behavior is not about the victim, it is about them. They are the broken ones who feel the need to manipulate. A domineering person insists that the reason for their cunning behavior is because of the victims attitude, actions, tone, or body language" How do you recognize them before you fall for it? It's not hard, you just pay attention. Time tells all... But, instead of plunging in with the first one who rings your bell, Hold back! Let time reveal who people are. The AMA suggests if one has 5 or more of the characteristics below, they can be considered NPD, 1. They are charming at first, and fairytale spinners. 2. They hog the conversation, talking about how great they are/or how much everyone feels the same. 3. They feed off your compliments, and will ask for them if not given 4. They lack empathy, to the point of having little interest in your day, struggles, and motivations. 5. They don’t have any (or many) long-term friends they spend time with. You can be blamed for You wonder why you have to be the social director or his loneliness is your fault 6. They pick on you constantly and it becomes mean at times, loving your reaction if negative 7. They gaslight you until everything feels like it is your burden to bear and all your fault. You caan't say sorry enough because they hold a grudge or anger for a while 8. They think they’re right about everything, and never apologize or own fault. 9.
