maybe he was just trying to help you get your mind off other thoughts not knowing you don’t work like that OR he really is a heartless dog player seeking opportunity?!
IMHO...either way he showed his true colors nor was he much of a true friend or somebody you want to associate with!

 It just seems unbelieveable that people would behave like that at this time.
All they should be offering you at this time is genuine comfort & support.
