It sounds like freedom. It sounds like a blessing. It sounds like a curse having to make a choice to risk loneliness and uncertainty for the panacea of freedom. Sometimes the choice is not ours, but when it is, it weighs heavy.

Very true, it sounds like freedom, it sounds like a blessing, yet sometimes it is hard to choose and decide which direction to go, which path to take. Maybe it is about finally taking responsibility for your own life and wellbeing, after years spent taking care of others.

Being retired now days, Sometimes you do loose track of teh days. The thing that worries me the most, is loosing motivations to do anything. During the sequestering of Covid a year ago, I practically lived in my recliner and hardly had food on any schedule and watched way too much TV.
Now I am looking for a part time job, not for the money but to have a schedule.

I completely understand what you are saying DD. I myself crave structure, a frame so to speak where I can feel safe and sound and know how things are ruled. Without it, with too much "freedom" I get lost at times, but eventually, I need to learn to be focused more on myself and my needs, and ways to take care of myself. Most of the time I am trying to keep myself busy, yet that is sometimes just an escape from your own thoughts and feelings. Not always self-motivated, to be honest.
I hope you will manage to find something that is suitable for you to work and have a better organized time. I know how important that is.

It can be a Catch 22. I do think that it is all in the way we accept and live with the circumstances. Days can be up or down but there is always that light that shines through and leads the way.

I think even in our brightest and happiest days we simply have our up or down moments, and when something significant happens to shake our lives, those amplitudes of being up or down are stronger or wider (not sure about the right expression, but you know what I mean), and therefore have an impact on how we spend our time, days, nights... not always easy, its a constant struggle, but eventually that primal instinct to survive leads you towards that light, as you well said, dear girl. |

I don't think there are any rules about being self-indulgent when on a voyage of self-discovery. One hopes that the best discoveries you make of yourself and what you like to do you will get the chance to share with the other that you seek. In the interim, the only rule of carpe diem is that it must be fun.

It is nice to share, it is something I would guess many of us would love to have... but if you don't have your "partner in crime" to share things with, the choice is either to give up on everything and wait for him/her or try to make the best out of what each day can bring.
