I rather fancy a hedonistic world tour. Seeing some fabulous places and some engaging people - it doesn't have to be far from home for the last part, of course. I intend to see Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and ski in the US. I am also curious to know if my accent will get me laid in California...

I would want to travel to many places, Spain, Peru, Australia, Japan, Back to Ireland, France, Argentina (for the Tango), Morocco. More of Canada. More of Europe say the Rhine Cruise , Touch no Switzerland and maybe Finland or others in vicinity. Portions of Easter Europe not under Communist control.
Dance lesson in Argentine Tango. Lessons from someone one who know how to teach Irish Bouzouki.
Cooking school in Italy or France or even in Malaysia.
Get a home with a formal dining room again and a great kitchen. And a large rm for music and dancing.
Now it would be nice t have a good partner to share all that with. But money will never buy me one.

DD, I like so much all that you wrote in here.
I have started with walking in high heels as it seems to me it's good to start with small steps. But I have the same thing as you do on my list - dancing classes! I love dancing, but having rhythm is one thing, and knowing all the right steps would be like I am flying over the podium, not just dancing...
I love your travel destinations, besides Europe, which is where I am from, would be lovely to visit Cuba and Argentina, wanted to visit Lebanon, and speaking about Europe, Scandinavian countries. But also many small places and villages which are very picturesque and pretty around Europe.
I may visit Istanbul soon, it's not that expensive and certainly worth visiting.
Fingers crossed for many of your wishes DD, I hope you will have someone to share your experiences with. In truth, speaking for myself, I don't think that will ever happen. Thank you DD! |

But I thought as proof of doing something just for myself, as many dear people suggested me here I should, that I take the image of me in high heels so no one can say I haven't at least try.. and who knows I may even like it

Sounds a little sad but a few of my greatest pleasures when i first got my place to myself were,
meals for one from Marks and Spencer with a large glass of wine after work (not having to think of someone else and what they wanted to eat ... or cook ... was the great pleasure )
getting home from work and instead of just turning the music off from my headphones i'd put it on the speaker, loudly and continue singing and dancing along.
Hot bubble baths, wine and a cigarette with loud music.
Coversations with girlfriends that last for hours and hours !
Hah a small bucket list when i found myself living alone, but i really did love and enjoy the little things, being able to be selfish really was wonderful. Because one day things change, and those changes are equally if not even more amazing.

Just where I stand right now after crushing two of my worlds and finally catching covid and struggling to go through it without disturbing anyone. But this shall pass too, and then, what then?
Your little things made me think if it is about changing your routine, doing something different from what I have always been doing... after work not rushing home where no one waits for me, no need to cook or clean, but maybe treat myself with a nice lunch and glass of g&t or something, enjoying the music I like and having a bath when I feel like, not when the bath is free and if there is warm water left... I think you are truly spot-on, it's about small steps and things that make the difference... and being happy about taking them, since it's not that easy after years of living for others and for their needs...

I picture you living in one of those smaller town, with the quaint cafes in the town square. Having coffee and some not too sweet pastry, people watching. I would love to join in that kind of day as it unfolds. It is too bad we live so far apart. And yu can wear heels if you want to, during the day. Nighttime, may be a bit different with the heels

I am living in not that small city dear DD, and would definitely love to share a coffee, pastry, or dinner with you... city with beautiful areas where you have lovely coffees and gardens, still open as weather is still nice, though fall is here, and lots of leaves around in all possible colors... once I get better I shall walk around and make some nice pictures of my city so that you dear DD, and if anyone else is interested, can see how Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, looks like decorated with Autumn colors... and heels, well heels are for various purposes, starting with the office, later will change in something a bit more comfortable and evening.. may be a bit different with heels |
