Ex

I completely agree with your list

Being submissive, I tend to over apologise

Apologies are necessary when they are deserved of-course!

I used to over-apologize, Jenny. I realized it had to do with my self-esteem... or lack of it... and changed as I matured and learned more about myself.

pretty good list, sometimes #5 could be tempered by the situation

I could relate to most of it... apart from asking for help, which I never do as not my way... in the end, I got tired of apologizing for what it was and it was not my fault.

I apologize when it is truly an issue. That over apologizing can be very self-deprecating.

It can, and in a long run, not really doing any good to anyone.

To family members and sincere friends, i apologize easily.
I dont like to make feel people upset, although i am very good in that, unintentionally.
Sometimes i mis that i make them feel ackward... about the things i say...
(never learned that)

.To totall strangers?
I use it as a way to disarm them.
Even if i dont mean one word about it!
If it makes them happy, i am happy, kind of way...
( i see that as a ego game, from their point of view)
Most of the time, this is in contact with men, sorry to say)
Way too big egos!

Not much value.
I am strange, like that!

ExNameForUse replies on 11/21/2022 12:09 pm:
When it comes to ego games, I noticed it works best in my work environment... all my bosses ever loved to hear me, or anyone, apologizing, for just anything... anything at all... and if used wisely, it could help in establishing a mutually satisfying relationship... the same may apply to colleagues, especially if you are new... Your humble attitude can help them fear less of your presence or see you as a threat to their positions...

I apologize when I have done something wrong and I probably should have known better.

Taking ownership of your mistakes and apologizing should be taught to all. Unfortunately, it probably still wouldn't take hold.

ExNameForUse replies on 11/21/2022 11:28 pm:
It should, Rondiri. Though many use it as a tool for manipulation.

I always apologize AND make amends. Making amends is more important in my opinion. Because apologies are hollow without the part where you actually learn from your mistake and try not to repeat it. We grow when we make amends. That's so important. Thanks for a great topic.

Thank you, M, for your contribution to the topic. I find that apologizing without amends is worthless. Just words not followed with the right actions. Manipulation, so to speak.
