Another Good Friday has come to an end... the basket is full of colorful eggs and the guardian of the home is nicely tucked in my little rabbit's basket... Tomorrow is a day to prepare a nice cake for Sunday's Easter lunch.
Let's hope this Easter will also be a resurrection of all good and forgotten, of hope and faith, courage and strength, of love and happiness for all.
Be well, my lovely friends

I was raised in a native American family
the first eight years of my life. Native
Americans generally scoff at the idea of a
religion that has a white man as their "god".
I have had an indifference my whole life
towards God based religion and the holidays
they celebrate.
But I raised a large family and Christmas an
Easter where always a welcome respite from
the work a days.
It is interesting to see how different parts of
the world celebrate holidays.

I am quite indifferent when it comes to religion. These remains of the celebration of Easter and Christmas are what I like, even more when my kid was just a little boy. With some other kids in the family, we had a lot of fun "practicing" what we knew about how to mark those two days... so it is mostly symbolic more than anything else...

Pysanka eggs were a specialty of an artist friend. As a boy, we had both naturally dyed eggs and those with artificial colors. Beets, onions and so forth along with eggs marked with paraffin wax to create designs.

I have a friend, a girl, who makes pure art with wax out of Easter eggs...

I just love to hear the customs from other ethnicities! Believe me, we Italians have many of our own

I bet you do, Dreamy... Italy is a place I would love to visit, but there are so many places to see that I think a year wouldn't be enough to take travels and visit them all... both by the coast, lakes, mountains... just a beautiful country and people!

HAPPY EASTER Ex! I love the traditions and practices of Eastern Orthodox Church, and as the Roman Catholic Church's celebration of Christmas (the birth of Christ) is generally regarded as the HIGHLIGHT of the Church's Calendar, EASTER is, and ALWAYS has been the MAIN celebration of the Orthodox Church, as several of my Greek friends have ALWAYS pointed out to me this time of year! And, having dated a Greek woman for several years and attended the local Orthodox Church with her while we dated, the 'authenticity', if you will, of the Orthodox Church shines through in all it's 'services', but ESPECIALLY at EASTER! The Eastern Orthodox Church is the authentic continuation of the original church established by the Apostles shortly after the resurrection of Jesus Christ at Pentecost. Again, HAPPY EASTER, Ex!

Thank you very much, I am pleased that you got the chance to see and experience a bit of Orthodox tradition... it can be really joyful and fun, family and friends gathering, and having a good time... to me, it was less about religion itself, but more for all other things that brought some dear people on that day...

That's an interesting tradition. Other than decorating eggs and having an Easter egg hunt, we never had any traditions in our home growing up .... so I had none to carry forward. I hope your čuvarkuća functions properly for you this coming year.

I'm going to assume your Easter lunch will be with your son - I hope that goes well and that you have a great Easter Sunday! What do you do with the rest of your eggs once Easter has passed .... Egg salad?

ExNameForUse replies on 5/5/2024 2:15 am:
I hope so, too that čuvarkuća will do its magic, though I know there is a bit of my part in that as well...

I won't be with my son, just alone at home and that's okay... not making a big deal of it anymore, it is what it is

Today, Sunday, I shall have my first Easter egg for breakfast, maybe later before lunch too and the custom is to give the rest of the eggs to kids in my neighborhood, and a few to my colleagues tomorrow, and a few will be left for a salad or pâté... I don't dye too many since I am alone, I think it was 15 or 16 this year

Ex

I hope you had a Good Easter!
