INCONCEIVABLE!!!

Inconceivable!

You keep on using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means

That was a little bit of repartee from "The Princess Bride."

So today, I am messaging with someone, they have a big "CONFIRMED" banner across their photo, but I decided to research and discovered, as is par for the course on ALT, that the photos were of someone else. The age was wrong, the location was wrong, and I was 100% that for the person in the photos they were in England and not the US.

So in my message exchange, I brought up that the photos were of this person, they were in the UK and 26 and not 30 as they were listed. They agreed the person was of that person and that they were not them and they were indeed in the US and 30.

So it got me thinking. "Confirmed" really does not mean what it means here as compared to other sites. While Confirmed may basically check out a person's identity, for the most part that may only really related to things such as age, gender and to a small degree location. It does not validate that the picture is of that person, which, like many things on ALT, makes that banner across the image "CONFIRMED" kind of misleading.

Granted, in the Kink world, a lot of times people may be less inclined to really want to show positively referenced pics of themselves which then is related to salacious content. But something I took for granted, really all CONFIRMED means is there is a person behind an id, and not a bot, which while useful, also does not really say as much.

 Yep- many are not hard to spot at all. I've just been here a week and I've had a couple of longish exchanges and on on I swear I was chatting with two different people lol.
Liked your profile btw, see myself in it.

I am really out of the public scene for quite some time, so really cannot be of any help. There was a time in the early 90s where things really flourished, from the 1st B&D Ball and then the growth of fetish nights. That died when the Cambridge and the neighborhood really pressured the building own and pretty much kicked out and then sold the building that ManRay was in.

You might try see what New England Leather Alliance has going, and they can be pansexual and just cover the BDSM community or look for munches and the Fetish Fleas, but the community is just not what it was in the roaring 90s.
