It's a matter of respect.... Enjoy more UP of Michigan pics... ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. Inner strength is measured by what we can bear. ~ |

Yesterday my Father and step Mother celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary! That's 40 more years than my Father was married to my Mother.... And even as my step Mother has become a caregiver now, the love she shows my Father is just amazing! I am so grateful she takes care of him with love and compassion... There are no snide comments, innuendo's, or pettiness that many long time couples share... I have so enjoyed spending time with them.. Just a vanilla couple with a deep love and respect for each other... ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. Inner strength is measured by what we can bear. ~

My parents were married 60 years, raised 4 kids through the depression and WW2, I was very late to the party and grew up with my nieces and nephews. Looking around today, there seems to have been something lost between when they grew up and now. Its sad to see what has been lost

pac The pictures are beautiful but nothing compared to the story / relationship of your father and stepmother!! A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny

There is much we can learn from our parents /elders about love, compassion, empathy, and life. Congratulations to your parents for hitting a wonderful milestone. You are very lucky to still have them both. "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

Congratulations to your Father and step Mother. My parents were married for 55 years. We had a big bash for their 50th. Gave a great day!

Most of the grandparents and my parents generations and a significant number of those from my generation have been married, until a spouse passed away. My Dad passed when I was in 2nd grade. Mom should have married a guy she liked, shared many interests and treated my sister and I very well. But he wanted to get married, but was not Catholic and like many n my Mom's generations you just did not marry out of your faith. Mom later married a man who she knew when she was a teenager. He hid his vices until the day after they were married. He was after money, which he thought my Mom had. She was not rich by any means. She usually worked two jobs to raise us. That marriage was annulled by the Church becasue he was too drunk most of the time to consummate the marriage. Tragic! It surely is a different time.
