Imagine this...

On a Tuesday afternoon, before a cross country driving trip, something crazy happens to your eyes...

All of a sudden lines, spots, blotches, are in your vision! No rhyme or reason they are not there 1 second, then there the next...

This is happening to me right now... It is beyond crazy what I am going to see out of my eyes right now. As sometimes it is better than other times...

I do plan on seeing a Dr when I return to Tucson. But still have 500 miles to drive today...

Don't take anything for granted!! It could be gone in a split second....

Never delay with eyes. I ignored a black area in one eye and was only just in time for surgery to save the sight as the retina detached. Be over-cautious.

High blood pressure or high blood sugars can cause these floaters as well.

Floater are pretty common... but by all means see your Ophthalmologist ASAP!

I've had them for years, usually worse in the morning due to having been laid down for hours. They disappear an hour or so after I rise, presumably falling to the bottom of my eyes and no longer between the pupil and retina. Mine are like squiggly grey shadows in my vision. From what I'm told, they are harmless but annoying. By all means get them checked, an optometrist is good enough, no need to go to the expense of an ophthalmologist. The optometrist will let you know if you need to seek out a specialist, plus check your macula and glaucoma.

Good luck.

Detached retinas are no joke. You can be permanently blind if you don't have it fixed in time.

Yes… I heard and read about that. Not sure what I have but certainly want it checked! Thanks for sharing…

I have had them all my life. I started taking eye focussed vitamins and they are rare now, for several years, actually. But do get your eyes checked, soon.

Experienced this when I was young.
I thought I was seeing invisible beings.

I had them a few years back, seemed to be related to being over tired.

However one of your previous replys mentions high blood pressure, so
as I have been on blood pressure meds for a few years. Maybe my problem
was related to blood pressure.

I know you say you don't have high blood pressure, but things can change.
After all I didn't have high blood pressure, err, until I did!
Hopefully thats not the case. Anyway good luck with getting the promlem
checked out.

Yeah.. Apparently almost everyone I talk to has them, or has had them but never mentioned it... Regardless, I have a eye test scheduled for Tuesday to hopefully find out what happened.

Thanks for sharing your story Dave...

I plan on it for sure.. The only good thing I can say is they are not getting worse. And at times are almost gone. So hopefully that’s a good sign.. Thanks Jenny!

So, how did you go? Those who care would like to know.

pac369 replies on 7/8/2021 6:04 am:
Wow that's nice.. thanks for asking...

My eye exam was Tuesday.. No damage to the retina or anything else as far as the Dr could see.. I apparently have the start of a cataract in my left eye. And I am going back to see her in a month to make sure nothing has changed with my right eye. As that is where all my floater symptoms are.. But my brain is adapting to the floaters so I am happy about that..
