"S" stands for Sturgis, baby!!

Every year on the first Friday of August; the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally begins... This year is 81...

The town of Sturgis swells from about 7,000 people to over 500, 000 in town and the surrounding areas.. It is a happening and a sight to behold!

If pac was in the area a visit would be necessary... In 2005 she started a job about 0 miles away from Strugis. So off she went....

The closer you get the more bikes you see... They are everywhere and it's hard to keep your eyes on the road....

The scenery of the Black Hills, beautiful bikes, and gorgeous woman is a huge draw in the town, and the surrounding camp grounds... Big name bands perform every night and it is a non stop party...

Girls come from all over the country to bartend and sling drinks... And if you work it with the sexy outfits, the 's the limit based on sheer volume of bikers...

pac could go on and on about Sturgis facts... But how about you just appreciate the pics to get just a taste of what it could be like...

Having ridden since 81, and owning a Gold Wing since 82, and having ridden in the Sturgis area, it is a great area to ride in.

I used to teach people how to ride motorcycles for 2 different universities, and along with my type of riding preferences. Sturgis type events aren't very high on my priority list. In fact, when I was out that way, on my bike, I left Wall, and went into the Badlands, to Custar State park, to Crazy Horse, Rushmore and other places, and came out about 20 miles west of Sturgis. So, I can't really say I have been there.

I hope those that go enjoy and do it safely. I will just have to pass on the worlds largest trailer show though.

Ok TM...I appreciate how much experience you have riding and your knowledge for sure...

I agree there can be many unsafe riders.. But they are everywhere, not just Sturgis...

I have been to all of the same areas and parks that you have except Crazy Horse.. It will still being built in 2005...

As far as the trailer show.. Yeah, there's a lot of them... But you know how it is as you get older.. Not everyone wants to ride 1,000 miles on a bike, just to get to Sturgis.. They would rather wait and tour the Black Hills on their bikes.. It is what is it..

Thanks for your comments TM..

I can just hear the howls now ... Here and on the main stream media. 'Super Spreader Event'!

You can bank on it. I'm sure there will be calls for Kristi Noem (governor) to be shot, then hung & then set on fire.

There - That should set the stage for some lively debate/comments.

That's a 'given'......

They didn't stop Sturgis last year Plz, and there was no vaccine, so I knew thee was no chance of it being stopped this year...

People will do what they want and you know that... I personally hope it's not a super spreader event... But everyone showing up knows there is a risk...

Thanks for your thoughts...

That and Route 66 are my idea of hell. I was a solo biker. The Alaska Highway was great - on my own.

pac369 replies on 8/4/2021 5:37 pm:
Mmmm that's interesting rope... I also drove the Alaskan Highway and I do know how beautiful it is..

Thanks for sharing though..

    Quoting pac369:

Despite some of my best friends being bikers, two wheels terrify me.

But I would love to do Route 66 from end to end...

pac369 replies on 8/4/2021 5:41 pm:
Ok WT... I can understand the 2 wheels terrifying you.. It seems like it's a passion with many who ride...

I rode a small bike about 50 feet once and crashed into the bushes! The first and last time this woman drove a bike... But I have spent some wonderful times on that rear seat..

Good luck with that route 66...

It certainly looks like a spectical pac.
When I was younger I had a bike, but nowadays I'm
strictly a four wheel guy.

When the weather is good I sometimes get tempted
to get another motorbike.
But then I remember transplant surgeons refer to
motorcyclist as "Donors."

pac369 replies on 8/4/2021 5:54 pm:
It really is Dave... Just like something that needs to be seen once, whether you have a bike or not...

My few pics can't do it justice for sure...

But I will always remember experiencing it live..

And damn Dave that's a sobering thought about the transplant surgeons..

Thanks for sharing your stories as always..

I'm sure I could find a thing or two to do there...

pac369 replies on 8/4/2021 5:55 pm:
I am sure you could find something to do Suzy!

So much yummy scenery...

I suspect, testosterone levels might be quite high too

pac369 replies on 8/5/2021 7:00 am:
You are probably right Jenny. And I also do not identify as a biker chick.. But I have had some nice rides on the back of a bike.

As far as spending days at Sturgis; even if I wasn’t sick it’s doubtful I would…

Thanks for sharing your thoughts…
