The Quarry course in Tucson...

In 2000, the sand and gravel quarry adjacent to the previous course was abandoned. A new plan reclaimed the quarry. By relocating ten golf holes into the old quarry and reconfiguring eight of the existing holes.

The unique desert landscape is highlighted by dramatic elevation changes and the addition of thousands of trees. Several holes are off of I-10 on the front nine. Where it reminds you of a nice city front nine...

But get t o the back nine, all around and on part of the quarry, and it's a different animal. The fairways are narrower, and many times your teeing off at a high elevation, and hitting the ball t o a higher fairway or green... The par three eleventh hole is one of the hardest pac has played...

Personally, love the challenge of this course. Where you can enjoy the front nine and get warmed up for the difficulty of the back nine. It's between ten and twenty dollars higher than the city courses depending on when you play. But It's worth every penny!

With temps around sixty-nine today it's a perfect golf day weather wise. Don't even care if there's a bit of wind...

Don't know much about golf (think in a thimble like a bb in a boxcar) but sure looks like might be a few places that redefine in the rough.
Gorgeous view though and nice reclamation. Was talk here about turning one next to barge canal into a marina when mined out.

Golf was never my game. But I watch tournaments when they broadcast them.

Very nice course. I've been to Arizona often and rarely do I see the beautiful clouds on a sunny day.

Clouds just make a picture. If I take a pic and it's a bland blue sky I just gotta add some clouds. No need here I can see.

pac369 replies on 1/12/2022 4:18 pm:
Mmmmm gry...

There have been lots of clouds lately...
And I agree they make for beautiful pics.
Good thing... because I don't know how to add clouds!

I love that type of course. Carved through rock and canyon at times. Grass looks very nice. Was it crowded? Were you out as a single, or paired up?
Have you signed up w/underpar.com? Free sign up and you will get weekly discount offers. Arizona has a lot of courses listed w/them.
...I think Tuscon is calling me! I see another golfgasm adventure in the near future.

Hey SD...

The course is great! But it was packed today...
Started as a single, then joined a guy on 10. It was still a
long wait in between holes... Hard to stay in rhythm for me.

I wrote down the website, because I am always looking for cheap golf!!

anything associated w 69 has to be divine...l like courses that are the same thru holes 1-18 be it tight or open fairways w lil or lg greens IDC just keep it all consistently beautifully confounding & aggravating! lol
