Your intelligence... Will not intimidate her... Or make her treat you differently... You know more from books... She knows more from life... She can respond in a heartbeat... Where you will "mull" it over in your mind... Even in failures she will continue looking for what she seeks... While you will probably stay lost in the past... Where no one can ever compare... This sub will take street smarts over book smarts everyday... Because every time a asshole with education disillusion's her once again... She learns new strategies t o protect herself from the next one... Your education or intelligence does not make you better than pac! Perhaps you should read that last line again... ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. Inner strength is measured by what we can bear. ~ |

Should be easy to decipher the picture.... ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. Inner strength is measured by what we can bear. ~

I agree with a lot of this but it seems to me that some of it confuses intelligence with book learning - they are distinct in my mind. For one thing, without intelligence, you can't be street smart - learning from mistakes requires intelligence, whether those mistakes are made on the street or in school. And yes, education or intelligence does not make anyone better than anyone else.

i'm all for street smarts!

Intelligence and education are nowhere near the same. I have met more than one college professor that seemed less intelligent than some I worked with that never made it to high school. If must intimidate shows lack of self. Myself will state this is what I know, or believe, or opinion is usually a sentence or paragraph, occasionally very rarely a chapter. I can't even do a book on what I spent 30+ years earning a living at.

in many ways street smart is wiser then book smart a life lived is full of experience experience = knowledge & wisdom to smell out & expose all the BS for the Truth eventually comes to light sooner or later people’s true colors intentions shine bright for the truth shall either set you free or imprison you!

I don't think education has anything to do with it. Education does not turn someone into an arrogant ass. They were assholes before school. I think their moral character has more to do with how they treat people than their education. Real educated people know that they don't know it all. If they don't, then they did not get the education they need.

The most important thing a person learns in school is how to learn. The same thing goes with 'street' smarts. I agree no one is 'better' simply because they have degree. For many their confidence stands behind that sheet of paper. From the time of birth, life is an education in adapting to situations around us. Learn or fail. You might need to use power tools for the first time. Only a fool would begin using them right away without learning how to properly use them. Or they would learn to live with the disability their arrogance provided them with.

Due to my background, i am always accutely aware of my lack of education. That makes me feel vulnerable, in company of people who did take/ get a good education. BUT, i do know my worth, so when such 'educated' person is trying to talk down to me... I disregard such person, the minute they try to pull that trick on me. I know, he/she is far less 'educated' then i am. It is on him, not me. I have a tons worth of street smart, in general i can see right through people within the first 5 minutes i met them. That is why some people are afraid of me, because they see, of feel(?) that...i knów what they are hidding or pretending...

Of those who are, IMHO. the top two "public intellectuals" in the Western world vould not be more different in terms of background. One hails from a family of agrarians with an affinity for the land, but with the knowledge of a historian and classicist. The other never went to college, but read voraciously and developed an encyclopedic knowledge of the arts, literature, music and the performing arts beyond any other I have ever encountered. There is always room to grow and to learn. Think of "intelligence" as a ladder - it doesn't matter what rung you start on. What matters is what direction you are heading!

You are quite right education or intelligence doesn't make someone better than anyone else. But neither should it make you arrogant. Arrogance is a character flaw regardless of education or intelligence.

pac I am feeling VERY dumb! I cannot interpret the picture I agree that "street smarts" are very important and some highly intelligent people are seriously lacking in them A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. no_unicorn, Great reaction, thanks! Arrogance is a longing to be important... But, is actually a sign of insecurity and the desire to bé superior.... Desire to overcompensate their lack of self confidence. In the psychology this is linked with narcism. Arrogant people have a low self image... Better leave them alone...

pac. It is a pitty, you life soo far away! I would have loved to go out with you, and show you my gifts/talent.....

jenny, intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.

I get where you're coming from, Pac. Arrogance is a nasty trait. Whether you're educated or not, you can hold that trait. I have always been grateful for my formal education and the one I also acquired from the "street." I feel as though there is also still so much to learn. So, I now consider myself a "Student of Life." That being said, I don't have time to play games with men that are cruel intentioned. I feel that's what arrogance breeds. Best to you, Pac. ~M "Men need to hunt. She obviously understands this. She’s offering herself as prey. Not easy prey. But willing.”

My pleasure, as always.

Hopes the earth opens and takes him with her... kind of thing... grins evil!! No shouting, no cursing, not throwing with chairs, tables, glasses or things like that, at all.
