My new venture...

Is helping my brother in his part time job. Taking the paint and varnish off quality furniture and restoring the wood to it's natural beauty... Talk about messy! Sawdust flying everywhere even with bags on the sanders. Time consuming as she learns the particulars. But quite fulfilling as a piece of furniture with blemishes and scratches all over, turns into a beautiful piece again...

So... between golf, basketball playoffs, sports betting, caretaking for the family, my plate is quite full. Just in case you wonder about long absences of mine during the day...

Because being busy is better for pac while she is alone...

Well, nicely done, there are festool's that have a vacuum system that captures 90% of the dust particles.. Pricy but excellent tools.

After watching Antiques Roadshow for year I hope you don't find that it was 10K dresser that is now worth less than 1K because you refinished it.

Sell it like it is...

Pac, I have always found that if you have the time and the tools to do something like this it is very rewarding. Unfortunately I don't have either the spare cash or the tools, but I would like to be making stocks, St Andrews crosses and Symbian horses for use or to sell.

stayin busy Pac keeps you outta your mind & from getting depressed...l get & feel ya!
I luv woodworking if the wood isn’t stained you can use paint remover (lDT they make it for stain?) & scrap it off w putty knife before sanding smooth but if not you gotta sand A LOT...thou you could take it apart & put it thru a plainer taking the stain layer off before sanding (save more time!)
it’s good to repurpose bring new life to old things...new hardware makes a big difference as does high quality varnish coats (wet sanded in between makes for very glossy sheen!

pac369 replies on 5/18/2022 7:33 pm:
I am using several different electric sanders bdsm. And yeah
a lot of sanding is involved... But it's my brother's stuff, so
I do it like he asks me to...
