Yes, I watched it The other day I was scrolling thru TV channels trying to find something to watch. Well, I ended picking Fifty Shades (the first ). Before anyone gets all judgmental about the movie, I think it had some very good representations. Sure, there was a lot of fluff with the billionaire Dom and that whole storyline but what Dom/Domme wouldn't want that red room. If there's anyone that wouldn't want it, I'd be a leery of them in the lifestyle. The thing that hit me the most was I could see myself as that sub who just feels that immediate pull of a dominant. Sure, the sub character didn't realize what it was at the time but you can't discount that feeling. There is a charisma that attracts me like a magnet and, as a friend and I discussed last evening, it's the moth to the flame kind of thing. There are just those dominants that have vibes, if you will, that are unmistakable and they draw me in for a deeper look. So, no matter your feelings about the movie I did see myself as that moth drawn to the flame.  |

The book is well written. The problem is that the reader is left to their own device and believe that this is how ALL BDSM relationships are. Book or Movie; misrepresents the diversity of the world of perverts. I am glad it made you feel something as that is the task of all things art.

I agree with those who say the book was better than the movie HJ... But I do agree with you. There were things to take from the movie. The playroom was out of this world! But the story line was just never realistic. And left a bad taste in my mouth as the series progressed. ~ Physical strength is measured by what we carry. I like the photo. Fifty Shades was a mainstream film and they will not present anything corporal or demeaning, any BDSM practices if it has a sexual overtone. There have been several films and television shows with some very brutal floggings, but they have no sexual overtone, so they get away with it. The moment you tie sexual arousal to it, they just can't have that. They concocted a ridiculous story-line to the film and it made it laughable. House of Whipcord directed by Pete Walker was a much more interesting film, but very subtle even though some thought it was too tame.

Always have to pick and choose with this type of movie. Personally, haven't seen the movies or read the books. But I'm sure it's a lot like the Beauty Trilogy. It's fiction, one writer's view, and you have to pick out what reality could be. My erotic stories in the Alt mag are the same. It's for entertainment, not instruction.
