Goodbye Mr Kissinger

at the age of 100, Henry Kissinger has passed.
escaped Germany, then fought the Germans with the Americans, became a citizen, then the Secretary of State under two presidents... He left his mark on the world...

Henry Alfred Kissinger was sworn in on September 22, 1973, as the 56th Secretary of State, a position he held until January 20, 1977. He also served as Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs from January 20, 1969, until November 3, 1975. In July 1983 he was appointed by President Reagan to chair the National Bipartisan Commission on Central America until it ceased operation in January 1985, and from 1984-1990 he served as a member of the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board.

My mum said my father always thought highly of Mr. Kissinger as a gentleman who spoke the truth.

Cambodia and Vietnam have entered the chat. Perhaps he was good for the USA (i suspect a lot of vietnam vets would disagree) but much of the world would also disagree with his methods and what he did.
Go listen to Anthony Bordain's take on what he did to Cambodia. i suppose, the 60 and 70's were a time when you could bomb the crap out of a country an no one would know about it. But hey, USA, USA.

Hope

As Tom Lehrer said, irony died the day they gave Kissinger the Nobel Peace Prize.

Kissinger's ego is responsible for thousands of Vietnam vets. We will never forget.

A war criminal with a Nobel Peace Prize. "Henry doesn't lie because it's in his interest; he lies because it's in his nature." -- Daniel Patrick Moynahan.

He left his mark. I was never sure of his politics or real motivations.

That is very possible.

I trust Anthony Bordain way over Henry Kissinger.
