Gen Z: The 9 to 5 Tik Tok Videos About Work Are a Bad Idea

We trained Gen Z to take stimulus checks (free money), work from home, and that everyone else will pay their debt. Technological improvements have made many jobs easier, more efficient, and a better experience. Personally, I am not surprised to hear the complaints from Gen Z about working.

We can blame Gen Z all day long and have fun with them, but the fact is that they have been taught all the wrong lessons.

We told them that they can have any career they want,
We told them that life is all remote work now, and
We told them they are special.
Work smarter, not harder.

In short, We lied to them. It was a total disservice and really destructive.

To fix this, we start with the truth:
- If you want a good career, you will be competing with Thousands of other candidates, Thousands.
- Most good careers cannot all be done at home. Home is the extra time you GET to spend on your career. It is called home work.
- In the eyes of HR, management, and your co-workers; you are not special.
- And finally, if you are truly trying to accomplish something of real value, it WILL require hard work no matter how smart you think you are.

In conclusion, my advice to Gen Z is to never complain about work in a Tik Tok Video. It sends ALL the wrong messages, and only HURTS your career. Social Media followers are not worth that.
