Submission is Given.

This sounds like a simple premise to understand.
There was a time when this premise was just accepted as fact by all involved.
Unfortunately, fictional depictions of the BDSM lifestyle fail to show this.
As a result, there are “Dominants” who feel they can demand it of any submissive without a Dominant. They think all they have to do is say they are a Dominant, recite what they can do with BDSM toys and case closed, the submissive belongs to them.
Likewise, there are “submissives” that are just waiting for “Mr. Grey” to come along and sweep them into servitude and it will be happily ever after. No muss, no fuss. Until reality sets in.
A submissive is not something that is finder’s keepers, or first come, first serve.
A submissive has the right to choose who they submit to. No ifs ands or buts.
No Dominant worth their title, would expect it any other way.
A submissive, while searching for a Dominant, is not a slave chattel, submissive, or any derogatory name that can be thought of. They are a person, their own person. They cannot be taken, assumed or forced, and should never be coerced or manipulated.
Submission is the most profound thing that can be given. It should be given freely, only after considerable Communication, with both parties being Honest, after Trust is earned and Respect is earned
Until all of that happens, no Consent should be given by the submissive and no liberties should be taken or expected by the Dominant.
**Yes, I know there are some parts of the BDSM Community where slaves are raised in their family and the head of the family decides who the slave will serve. But that is a closely private situation, where everyone knows the rest of the Community well. In the Greater part of the BDSM community, submissives are on their own.**

I know a Mistress that clearly states that it is up to the individual if they choose to accept her as their Mistress. She truly understands what it takes to be a true dominant.

Wish they all did. I get "mistresses" telling me to kneel and submit. Totally disrespectful to any submissive, more so when said to a Dominant.
