Gags article in comments |

A prominent toy in BDSM is the gag. Most gags either depress the tongue, preventing the formation of words, or covers the mouth to prevent sound from emerging. Some do both. It’s used to quiet a noisy submissive, as a form of humiliation, a showing of control, to torment, to make the submissive accessible, and sometimes, just because it looks so damn good on a submissive. Gags come in many designs. The simple cleave gag, anything thin from cloth, to leather or a long sock, even a strand of rope, between the lips and teeth and tied behind the head. Tape or other material rolled around the head covering the closed mouth. Bit gags, much like cleave gags go between the lips and teeth and get their name because they are the same style that horses have between their teeth, in the bridle. Ball gags have a ball of various sizes wedged between the teeth or behind the teeth. Some have holes in them to assist breathing, or the introduction of liquids into the held open mouth. Dental gags, spider gags and ring gags hold open the mouth by either wedging behind the teeth or spreading the jaws, leaving the mouth wide open for the Dominants imagination. Penis gags have various lengths and fill the submissive’s mouth. Some of them even pump up to be larger and thicker, or they too have a hole through them to introduce air, or liquid. There are more, and almost all of them can be found with head harnesses or in combinations. But the use of gags also introduces a small problem, especially with new partners, still learning each other’s tendencies. The submissive can’t use a safe word. This can be rectified with a safe signal with the hands or head. But when bondage is also used, I give my submissive a small cat toy. A ball with a bell inside, for her to drop or toss to get my attention. Whatever method you use, the Dominant MUST be extra attentive for any signs of trouble from the submissive when they are gagged. Some people have breathing problems when gagged, or the gag can cause choking or coughing that can lead to vomiting. A very dangerous thing that can cause the submissive to choke to death in extreme cases Remember, the submissive is putting their life in the Dominants hands. At any time something can go wrong, no matter how careful you are. Like with everything in BDSM, with gags, start slow. Short periods of wearing the gag, small balls before large ball gags. Gags can also cause problems in the jaw joint if used improperly, and for too long a period of time. However you incorporate gags into you play, play safe, stay sane and remember the consent. © 12/17/22 Ronald Dirienzo

Gags are uncomfortably fun. Never had the penis design you show in the image have always wondered how effective it'd be. I'd be interested to try it. But as always, I'm glad to see your attention to safety and your observations about how to overcome the Safety Word situation and better avert a tragedy. Probably the most important part of the article.
