Permanent Markings

I was asked to do an article on Branding, but I couldn’t in good conscience write about how to actually do it. It is definitely not my kink. But for those that are thinking about it, I will give some of the downside of it before moving on to other ideas.
Firstly, it’s permanent, as in forever, unless you want to get costly cosmetic surgery. Do you really want someone’s name or initials on you for the rest of your life? Even if you think you will be with your partner forever… shit happens… people evolve, relationships end, partners pass away.
Secondly, it’s VERY dangerous. You are burning through levels of epidermis. Not only is it painful, (think 3rd degree burns that would hospitalize people) But there is always the possibility that the brand could press too hard, too far and go too deep into the fatty tissue, causing more health issues. Skin is not animal hide, it’s very easy for the brand to press too far into a human.
Third, if the brander is not VERY experienced, all danger is multiplied.
THIS IS NOT A DO IT YOURSELF ON A WHIM KINK.
Fourth, healing time can be very long before the actual Brand is healed and visible as desired. All activities you do while it heals can cause it to get infected, tear or not heal properly.
On the other hand, you have Tattoos.
A reputable tattoo artist is safer, the marking can be more elaborate and colorful and there is much less chance of hospitalization, though infections are fairly common if not cared for properly.
The big downside again, is it’s permanent. Sure lasers can remove them or they can be covered up by a good tattoo artist, but it is more expense and the lasers DO hurt.
Again you have to ask yourself, “Do I want this on me for the rest of my life?” For the same reasons as a branding. My first submissive asked me to tattoo her. I doubt she enjoyed the tattoo after we divorced and battled over legal issues.
My last remarks are for submissives.
If a Dominant pushes you to get branded or tattooed and you don’t want to, DON’T!
Don’t let yourself be manipulated to do it.
Don’t be coerced into doing it.
Don’t be threatened into doing it.
A respectable Dominant will not do any of those things to get you to do anything.
Anyone that does try to push you into it, isn’t worth serving. Once you allow yourself to be pushed into something, you are opening the flood gates to be pushed into everything else.

Very well said....we all have heard and seen the horror stories. Since you did mention tattoos I would also like to add transdermal implants, or dermal piercings. I had a very good friend that had 6 or 7 in the shape of a necklace. Getting out of the shower and drying off one morning the towel caught on the bathroom door and several hung on the towel and and were yanked out. Off to the ER for those.
Then the decision to remove the others. Then plastic surgery for all the scars on her chest. Also like to mention rings on finger during play. They get overlooked and can get hung and cause very bad cuts on the fingers. Just try and think ahead.

I've been around for branding of horses, and can't imagine doing it to people.

I actually try to avoid partners with tatts, it tells me something about the person that doesn't sit well with me.

If the bond of connection between two people isn't visible or doesn't hold, don't think a permanent marking will either.

Just saying..

"like the seas, her depth and power will only be known by He who inspires her into submission”

Being someone who raised cattle for most of my life I know a lot about branding
and yes if done wrong it can do harm, but when done by a very skilled it doe not cause a animal that much stress. Most of the time a branded calf is up and playing around with 5 min. after branding. I don't know much about human branding but have watched it done and yes it is far different branding cattle. I do know that new born calves skin is just as delicate as that of human female maybe even more so, which is why cattle producers try very hard to avoid branding new born calves.
Your assumtion that a brand is a perminate mark is also wrong a branding done lightly will fade overtime and disappear that won't happen with a tatoo. You can give someone the sensation of being branded with a hot water brand that will leave no mark at all. In many ways a brand is safer than tatooing they have found that most tatoo ink is very toxic and can cause cancer later in life a brand doesn't do that.

Like I said in the article, Humans have skin, not hide. Third degree burns don't just fade

You can also do cold iron branding where extreme cold is used instead of heat. I have never done it but know that exists it leaves no scare on the skin at all but does change its pigmentation of skin. Done on a black haired animal when their hair grows back in it will be white in many way it stands out more on a dark haired animal than what hot brand does.

again, animals and humans react different. Cold branding is somewhat safer, but, you still have the permanence.
