A BSDM scene is a play session involving consensual power exchange. A BDSM scene typically involves one or more of the following elements: bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism.

Now scenes can have 2 or more participants, but, at least one should be a Dominant that leads the scene. If a switch is involved, the roles may actually change during the scene if the participants agree.
Actions and events during scenes can involve anything the participants have either agreed to have in the scene, or have been consented to in the dynamic.
Nothing is mandatory in a scene accept seeing to the safety and wellbeing of your partners. Any kink and sexual act can be included or excluded depending on consent first, and then the imagination of those involved.
It is a smart thing to start scenes with new partners at a shorter time span and lower intensity, until you have learned tolerances and boundaries. Each succeeding scene can be expanded in time and intensity. Many also prefer to cut a scene short and leave the submissive wanting more, than overdo it and have regrets after the scene.
Some partners prefer to script out a scene. Both partners are aware of everything that will happen during the scene. This is not always about trust issues concerning what will happen. Some partners just like to join heads in mapping out the scene they want to happen. Scripting the scene is very useful if you are role playing so each partner can get into a costume or mindset to play their role.
Other partners prefer to let the Dominant make up the scene as they go, keeping the submissive in the dark as to what is coming. This requires complete trust by the submissive(s) that the Dominant will stay within the limits and boundaries as well as tolerances of the submissive(s). Freestyling a sensation play scene keeps the submissive guessing what is coming next and sometimes what sensation item is actually being used upon them. Blindfolds and earplugs help the guessing along since the submissive can neither here nor see what is happening.
At all times, consent and Safewords are adhered to and not looked upon as a “bad” thing, but as safety precautions for the health and wellbeing of the submissive.
After a scene, aftercare is a predominantly mandatory thing to do. Although there are some submissives that feel they don’t require aftercare, it is best to at least check for any injuries, skin abrasions, etc. that should be tended to.
Aftercare gives the participants time to unwind, get some fluids or sweets into the body and also discuss the scene for any issues that may have arisen, or just to celebrate the success of the scene and the pleasure derived from it.
Scenes are usually about BOTH or ALL partners getting pleasure and satisfaction. But there sometimes are scenes where it is planned that a specific partner will be the focus of all pleasure and satisfaction as a reward or thanks. The biggest take away about scenes is that they are meant to be enjoyed and not a chore for any participants.
