Honesty is one of the 4 pillars. But even being honest, a person can “hide” intentions during vetting, simply by not talking about a topic or talking around it and hoping the questioner doesn’t catch the evasiveness.
In BDSM Honesty means being totally aboveboard.
That means having NO deception.
Deception will cause just as much damage to a dynamic as lying.
And this applies to BOTH partners. Neither partner should deceive the other to “close the deal”.
Say what you mean and mean what you say.
The trust you build this way is more powerful than any you can build with deception.
A person deceived will almost always figure it out sooner than later and resent it.
Resentment will crumble both trust and respect.
Being aboveboard is the way to go and what to look for in others. No half answers or half-truths. And NO secret agendas.
Be thorough asking questions and thorough answering questions.

Yes, the first rule of law, of bdsm, both for the d type and the s type.

hiding, not talking, all those acts, are very bad, for building trust, and as you say,
sooner then later, will be found out, with the end result, the end of the d/s.

Was it worth that??
is what i always asked myself, when meeting such person....
Did they really get out of "it", what they expected? Bleagh!

"A person deceived will almost always figure it out" - it always happens. And it can be very devastating and hurtful. I will never understand why some folks do it.

Maybe those folks are truly sadistic and they enjoy it.
