In BDSM, not all idea are good and they are not all bad. Some ideas are good for some people and bad for others. For some, ideas are safe, and sane. But for others, the same idea is unsafe and insane. Ideas might be basic common sense for some, and outlandish nonsense for others. The wrong ideas can be dangerous, or misleading, or soul crushing. The right ideas can be ground-breaking, imaginative and life-changing. Whatever the idea you have or is presented to you, YOU have to make the determination in what, of the above categories, it falls into. YOU have to decide if the idea is within your abilities, you interpretation of safe and sane, whether it will cause harm or do good things. Everyone in the lifestyle has their own limitations, capabilities, interpretations and mindsets. And there will ALWAYS be differences of opinion. There will ALWAYS be people that cannot have their mind changed no matter how logical you feel you are presenting a differing opinion. All you can do as a participant in the lifestyle is get as much information as you can. Look for similarities in the information. Weed out the information you think is wrong and keep the information you think is right. Never take ANYONE’s word for how something is done, without researching it further to corroborate the information. The person imparting the information may have been taught by someone that was teaching the incorrect information. Always double, triple or even quadruple check information from different sources.
