NOTHING in a dynamic should be vague.
Part of communication in BDSM is to make everything very clear to your partner.
Whether it is protocols, limits, Safewords or any other aspect of the dynamic. It should be clearly understood by both parties. Leaving things vague, opens the door for confusion, misinterpretation and differences of opinion.
A huge red flag during vetting is a prospective partner being vague with answers. Good communication starts from the moment you start speaking/chatting with a prospective partner, not once the dynamic starts. Clear, honest answers are what you are looking for.
Often, vague answers are used to hide behind or cover up a lack of knowledge and experience. Anytime you hear something vague, press for clearer, more direct answers. If a person is being vague during vetting, they will more than likely be vague during a dynamic or their true colors will come out after the dynamic begins.
Vague is not something that should build trust or respect. Vague should build caution, wariness and a deeper dive into the prospective partner’s background.
Vague leaves too much to chance, when you need to know what you are facing and getting into.

It seems it is always very hard to get someone to open up completely
and not be vague.... .
